Rated R Bellend more like.

Edge for all his desire to free himself from the McMahon yoke of tyranny is still WWE through and through. Stupid mononyms is a WWE trait. From Akam to Zaria there are still loads of them now and there alvvays has been.

Cope is stupid but it's not any stupider than anything else. It's not like he's called Kurrrgan or Michin is it.

To be fair those names have a bit of meaning behind them at least. Kurrgan was a warrior taken from Highlander, and Michin is translated from Korean as crazy and was a childhood nickname. I actually think Michin gets a rough ride as a name.

Akam is only Akam because he has a tag partner and it’s a play on Occam’s Razor for what it’s worth too.

Cope is just Copeland wanting to have something short for merch like he had with Edge. It’s pretty shite.

Cope is a dumb name. That's all I have to say on the subject.

Really fun show for the most part.

Best thing about the Ricohet angle imo, was the way he just casually walked up to Swerve, to stab him. Didn't immediately realise it was him.

Absolute nothing segment from Mone, crowd didn't seem to care much either.

An actual decent promo from MJF. Bit SHOUTY WRESTLER though.

Another bland as fuck promo from May.

Hayter Vs. Hart was fine. Finish looked shit, though.

Strong opener and main event.

Platinum Max battered again, to my enjoyment.

Fun squash from Hobbs.

Forgot this. It's mad that she can go out and have strong matches and yet her promos are consistently terrible and greeted with silence. You'd think there's SOME way of tweaking her character to make people invest in her more. Or does no one care as long as they're able to push the OMG AMAZING MATCH angle every PPV? Maybe that's all they care about.

I would say that I am a more interested than your average WWE fan in names and characters yet I didn't know any of those. To me they are just silly names and I'm sure most most WWE fans are mad for translations from Korean and Occam’s Razor.

Occam's Razor? Jeez. I feel bad for saying the AEW theme was old and out of touch when we've got tag teams named after 14th century philosophy. Unless that's what the kids like these days.

Did Ricochet ever work heel in WWE or elsewhere.

I believe a while ago in PWG but not sure what he was like.

A couple of times. He worked heel in a match against El Generico and was very cocky and arrogant and got the right heat. Especially as Generico was so loved. I enjoyed it.

Then he won BOLA years later which the crowd weren’t happy about and shit all over him when he faced Chuck Taylor. Like the Generico match, came into it as a face but worked as the cocky and arrogant heel.

He should be better in this role. He does need a mouthpiece though. The man cannot cut a promo to save his life.

That theme change is one of my favourite things AEW have done, along with Elton John for Collision. I'm all for moving away from shitty generic rock or crap rap songs and just having fun with it. Just super camp, something people forget that wrestling is to the outside world. Brilliant stuff.

No Hope with Cope.

That silly name change aside, I thought this was a really strong episode of Dynamite, with good matches, character progression and storyline advancement. The crowd sounded terrible, though. I don’t know if it was bad mic’ing or they really were so silent you could hear individual people’s comments, but I was almost hoping for some post-production piped in noise just to make it feel alive.

By the way, I don’t think it’s great, I was fine with Adam Copeland, but why is this such a big deal?

It's not a big deal. It's new, it's WrestleCrap and it's rightly having the piss ripped out of it. We'll all move on with it because we have no choice but in the moment, people react. That's what we're here for isn't it?

FWIW, I'd be happy for him to put over Jon Moxley and disappear. I hadn't really noticed he'd gone. He's been absolutely fine as a talent down the years but is old, isn't a draw and is absolutely synonymous with the other company. Three boxes I'd not want any signings to tick all of.

Her promos are exactly what they need to be. She's an arrogant heel, she's got a unique delivery and people don't like her. She stays heel in all her programs and it translates to the matches which have been very good. She's confident and doesn't stumble and it comes through as really being her and the character is a bit of a prick. They're effective promos.

I don't think she's got it in her to be Dusty Rhodes or the Rock on the mic but if she was, she'd turn babyface in an instant. They don't need that.

I also like that she's completely different to Mariah May in work, in character and in promos. That's vital and they've got really lucky with how great and varied their women's roster is.

I think everyone needs to calm down. Just because Cope is a stupid name, everyone seems to have decided Copeland is rubbish and has never added anything to AEW. Nonsense! He was great before his injury, having all those mad TV matches you never could have imagined. He even dragged a good feud out of Malakai Black!

There's still loads more for Ol' Cope to do. I want to see him against Mox, Swerve, Samoa Joe, Kenny Omega, MJF, Hangman, to name but a few. He and FTR could have an amazing run with the Trios belts, too. He said he has about two years left, didn't he? I hope he squeezes all the dream matches in before the inevitable retirement run as a Tag Team with Christian. Chris n' Cope Connection vs. The Young Bucks! Yes Please!

I still insist there's money in the Ricky Starks feud, too. That was a right laugh when they started SHOOTIN'.

My only worry is that the closer Cope gets to the main event, or the more personal his feuds become, he always defaults to this dog shit GRIT character, going all growly and gritting his teeth. It's absolutely rubbish and is synonymous with the worst period in WWE history.

He's not rubbish and never was. You'd hear that about Edge at times. He's just never really been great. I love that list of names you mention. When they signed Punk, I was wet at the prospect of him facing those guys who were there then. Same with Bryan. But Copeland? Nah. There's never been a dream match in history that I'd attach his name to. It's like when the WWE got to re-write history, as the winners - did you know they won? - and pretended that there was ever a WCW v WWF dream match that involved Triple H. Just didn't happen - and Trips was a talented fella.

Since we're stuck with him, I'm happy enough with him and FTR as a happy go lucky trio. That's a good suggestion. Keep him away from trying to be Bryan.

I can't speak for others but her promos have always been the worst thing for me. I don't buy into them. I don't find them effective. I get that heels can be fake and arrogant but there are far better people out there at conveying that and convincing me that they're genuinely unlikeable and make me want to see them lose. Her? I never feel invested in the character whatsoever. It was the same in WWE. I just don't enjoy her character work whatsoever.
