All of the promotions who have been on TV successfully have done the bit where the commentary team does an intro for the next thing, and they usually do it over crowd shots.

My personal preference is just doing hard cuts instead of the need for any pointless intro at all. It makes the show generally faster paced and feel more exciting. And I absolutely despise the fade that they do - it looks awful.

Additionally you add up the time of all these dead air intros it's probably about 4-5 minutes of absolutely nothing which could be used for a Harley Cameron segment.

Starts an angle with the subtext of saving the promotion from being goofy sports entertainment, ends up being the goofiest thing on the show.

Definitely feels like we are living in the Ambrose Asylum.

Why has he kidnapped two old school wrestlers?

He's a heel. Mad concept, I know.

I'm liking the Death Riders angle a lot more now that they seem to be quietly dropping the AEW power struggle stuff and they're slowly morphing into 'generic heel faction 101'. It's still not great but I'm into it enough. It doesn't help that Pac is still doing his 'go home for two weeks then come back for a week' schedule, which seems to disrupt absolutely everything he's been involved with in AEW.

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed Private Party vs Andretti & Rush. I expected it to be a sloppy spot-fest (and there were definitely elements of that) but it seemed like a fresh and exciting match with AEWs own young homegrown talent. Good finish, too.

Rated FTR are great together. Fuck it, put the Trios titles on them. If you can get Pac to show up to defend them, that is.

Garcia vs Briscoe wasn't as good as their Continental Classic match but still really enjoyable. Was surprised to see the crowd so one-sided in favour of Briscoe though.

Similar to Dynamite, it was a solid episode but I expected a few more fireworks what with it being the start of a new era.

I'm aware he's a heel but they're not WWE style wrestlers, I get heels are hypocrites etc but be consistent.

As a longtime wrestling fan I'm enjoying AEW..

Such a long time fan in fact I can recall the "Friday Night Wars".. Problem is I never got a chance to check out  WCW..

Sky broke down and the new boxes were all digital.. TNT was a analogue only channel.

We later got Worldwide complete with batman comic effects. But by that point.. wcw was on the decline.

Being able to see AEW on regular tv.. is great That said  I admit I mostly only catch Dynamite.

There's a few things I find jarring..it can feel a bit stop start.. with wrestlers appearing for a few weeks..then not seen again for sometimes months.

I think that's a wrestling thing in general now though not just AEW.

The smaller arenas these last few weeks look better.

The most annoying thing about the EVP angle was that the End Game was right there. Literally all they had to do was put up The Elite’s, “power,” against Tony’s, “power,” in Blood and Guts. Winner takes all. Would have taken Excalibur or Schiavone ten seconds to mention it, saving us months of bullshit and giving everything a satisfying conclusion. The Young Bucks could have lost, moved on, and just continued being wrestlers on the show, participating in storylines that don’t revolve around meta bullshit

That's the thing - we had Anarchy In The Arena and Blood & Guts, "Team AEW" uniting to take on The Elite, and none of it mattered, because there was no stakes in any of it. Especially as Blood & Guts ended with Darby Allin forcing Jack Perry to give him a title shot, why not just make that part of the stipulation in the first place? If it's not for control of the company, then at least give each member of Team AEW some kind of incentive or reward they'll receive if they win the match. But none of it mattered. They then teased The Elite backing down in the face of the Death Riders to give those two angles some kind of nuance, but instead it just led to the Bucks fucking off, and Jack Perry disappearing from TV with no explanation.

I don't like to make late stage WCW comparisons, but if Kenny Omega's segment on Dynamite doesn't meaningfully address this feud, it's their Fingerpoke Of Doom moment. If Kenny Omega returns from the Young Bucks assaulting him while he's recovering from a life-threatening illness, and then attacking him on his stretcher, and just handwaves it away to move on to his next programme, that's the loudest possible statement that nothing matters and there's no point getting invested in anything AEW puts out on TV. I'm expecting the Young Bucks to return in that segment, and it's obvious that they're going with Omega vs. Okada at All In: Texas, but they need to wrap up the dregs of the Elite storyline now that Kenny's back.

I'm hoping it's the classic Tony Khan booking of just letting people's wheels spin once someone gets hurt or otherwise becomes available, then going back to the plan once all the pieces are back in place. But seeing as they're making the same mistakes with the Death Riders, of "tell, don't show" stuff, where we're constantly told that the Death Riders are holding the company to ransom and are doing despicable things, but really they're just showing up and wrestling their match, and Ricochet is being more violent and unhinged than them on the same show.

Moxley has never said that he's going after "WWE style wrestlers", just that he thinks wrestlers in AEW need to toughen up and take themselves more seriously. Which is all bollocks, he's actually a heel manipulating people and saying and doing whatever gets him more power and protects his title reign, and I wish more people on the show would draw attention to that - he's going around cutting promos about how you can't just ask for a title shot, you shouldn't just be handed anything, when this whole run started with him asking Darby Allin to hand over his shot.

But in terms of why he's going after the Rock N Roll Express, it's because he's feuding with FTR, and beating up some of FTR's friends and heroes is an easy way to goad FTR into a fight, into getting emotional and making mistakes. It wasn't a good segment, but the intent was pretty obvious.
