Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 Needless to say he's going to be going after Jericho's ROH title and he'll deal with Mox later.... As AEW booking will no doubt have considered Quote
RedTwoster Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 (edited) Not more Kenny Omega vs Don Callie nonsense. Keep them away from one another, AEW! ? I’m assuming it’s a short-term thing, but why not go straight into something interesting? Callie interacting with anyone of note sends shivers down my spine.m, he’s awful. I’ve been very down on MJF recently, but I enjoyed his interaction with Jeff Jarrett, and a storyline between the two could be good for both of them. I initially wondered if they were setting up a feud between Malaki Black and Will Ospreay, but since watching, I’ve seen that Black may have finished up with the company. I really hope they take the opportunity to give Brodie King a big singles push. He’s unlike anyone else in the company, and tremendous fun to watch in ring. The Casino Gauntlet was what it was…if that’s all they had planned, why run the match in the first place? I’d like to see Hobbs get a sustained push, but having him wrestle Moxley in a match he’s destined to lose is unlikely to help him much. I hope there’s a long term plan here, but we’ll see. DavidB6937 Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 This was better than the whole of Raw. Quote

Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted January 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 9, 2025 I had no problems with the Hobbs win. He got injured fighting Mox didn’t he, so this will give them a chance to give him a big match whilst also keeping the road to Revolution clear. Looks like Omega is on collision course with Takeshita. I don’t mind that as again I think we’re heading to Omega/Okada down the road. House of Black losing Malakai? Ok. I think Buddy and Brody have proven they have more gas in ring, so if this gives both new opportunities I’m alright with it. Buddy/Will was a great opener as well. Thought the Ian/Matt/Excalibur 3 man booth worked well together. Quote

Agreed, I’d not heard much of Menard on commentary and I thought he did really well. Quote
BrodyGraham Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Change Kenny's music back to Battle Cry yesterday. That new theme is shite and absolutely killed the crowd for what should have been an electric final angle. Otherwise really enjoyable Dynamite. FEEL THE WRATH!!!!!! Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted January 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 9, 2025 So, Hobbs loses a match for a secondary title and now he's the number one contender for the World Title. I mean, sure, why not. Omega's promo was a good one though and even MJF was back to something approaching form. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted January 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 9, 2025 Some really enjoyable stuff, Ricochet getting tossed around by the big lads was lovely to see. The MJF/Jeff Jarrett bit was well done without overstaying its welcome. FTREdge and Mox and Friends was what you'd expect. Kenny for all his obvious qualities as an in ring performer has never been great on the mic, and that crowd last night was very cold and hampered his promo immensely. Don Callis can sod right off though, a re-run of that for Kenny is of no interest to me though obviously Kenny vs Takeshita and Kenny v Kyle have some great potential the announced match of Kenny vs Brian Cage, not so much. AEW have rightfully got a slagging off when they have made weird booking decisions but this makes sense. Quote
Guest Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 I don't think they're doing a full rerun of the Don Callis family v Kenny, I think they're just introducing someone for Kenny to beat. If it's going to be a feud, you don't start by smacking the hell out of Callis Quote

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted January 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 9, 2025 A mixed bag this week. Crowd weren't particularly loud which didn't help a few bits that needed it but at least they were there. The good: Opener was excellent stuff. Loved the Buddy Murphy flub. Ospreay's promo work has been the biggest surprise in the world to me in the last year. In a good way. MJF/Jarrett interaction. Really good stuff from both. Hope this is a match that gets some build Build for next week. Always a sign that they're booking pretty well when there are 3 or 4 things of interest a week out. Kenny's promo. Great to see him and good delivery. Toni Storm's reaction to losing the three way. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant. Renee's the best too. Harley & Mariah were fantastic. The bad: Fucking COPE. It's terrible. As soon as it becomes his name, it's real bad. Get rid of it, you meffs. The gauntlet. A pretty poor execution of a good concept. It started well with Hanger and Jay White and the tease of Swerve but went downhill as it filled up with vanilla midgets. It was also filled with the worst fucking WWE trope imaginable - everyone laying dead at ringside. Get some agents who aren't lazy cunts who have only ever watched one wrestling company and come up with reasons for these guys to fight each other all over the arena, have your cameras and director chasing to film everything and produce a match that actually looks like a massive battle for an important title shot. I bloody love Will Hobbs. Would love to see this mean more. Somewhere in the middle: Kenny's return being against the Callis family. I appreciate that the top is stacked and this is kinda natural but it can be a graveyard working with Callis. If it's a strong win over Cage next week and onto something else, I'll let it slide. How is this tag division not on fire? You've got the Hurt Syndicate coming together. You've got Cage & Archer. You've got Buddy and Brody. They should all be absolutely killing it. There seemed to be enough hints on this show that this is coming but it should be in place already. Get on with it. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 The Kenny return wasn't exactly what I was hoping for but I'm just glad to have him back. There was probably a real possibility that it might not happen, so I'm very much on that Bryan train where I'm just enjoying absolutely everything Kenny does and not taking it for granted. I don't know where they'll go with him or if he'll allow himself the top tier treatment he deserves but an AEW with Kenny Omega is a significantly better one. Quote
