Paid Members Statto Posted September 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 19, 2025 Why is Kyle Fletcher's catchphrase "Say my full name"? It it was Maxwell Jacob Friedman's, for example, I'd sort of understand it. But if Kyle has (a) middle name(s) I don't think he's told us what it is. And everyone refers to him as Kyle Fletcher anyway. Quote

Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted September 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 19, 2025 Decent show. Thought it started strongly with Hangman/Fletcher, Mox vs Roddy was great and the C&C/FTR segment was the highlight of the show. The last hour was weak and the idea of those rubbish bunch of losers Sky Flight in any kind of main event is laughable, although it did lead to this exchange which was tremendous; Danielson: "I love Hechicero!" Callis: "You ever wrestled anyone like that?" Danielson: "...I wrestled Hechicero". Quote

Paid Members LaGoosh Posted September 19, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted September 19, 2025 Pretty good Dynamite, though as others have said 3 hours was too long. All the best stuff jammed into 2 hours and it would have been a cracker. They managed to get me intrigued about matches I didn't really give a toss about last week so job done! Highlight was easily the FTR/C&C segment. My favourite part of the reunion is that they haven't done the typical wrestling thing and inexplicably changed Christian into a smiley happy good guy. He's still an absolute arsehole but now he's more of a grumpy old family member who pisses you off but you love him anyway. Unexpected lovely moment where Mina Sharfir went to intimidate Roderick Strong but couldn't suppress a huge smile at her real life husband. Too cute! One criticism, it's an ongoing one, matches being longer than they need to be. Did Mox/Strong really have to be 18 minutes? Does Riho look strong as a title challenger taking 15 minutes to put down Robyn Renegade (whoever that is)? Sometimes you can achieve what you need to in half or even a third of the time! Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted September 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 19, 2025 I just thought Kyle Fletchers line was because Hangman just kept calling him 'Kyle'. But maybe Im just misremembering. I think Im in the minority, but I love Don Callis. I mean, I want to see him get his comeuppance, but I appreciate him as a heel. A lot of that is that unlike most heels on comms he bigs up the people his guys are facing. Little thing, but it gives value to beating even the likes of Top Flight. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted September 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 19, 2025 Callis has really turned himself around - there was a time when he put himself over way more than his wrestlers, but now he's fantastic at getting heat on guys who otherwise might not get it, he's a mouthpiece for people who need one, and he played a really vital part in managing expectations for Okada/Omega. He's also turned into a great little prick manager - him running away from commentary to get some pathetic kicks in behind the ref's back always pops me - and while I assume he can't take any proper bumps any more, Takeshita eventually hitting him will be amazing. I might have to check out the ITV broadcast for once. They didn’t, the ITV X upload only goes 96 mins and ends after the Thekla/Aminata match and post match stuff with Storm, Hayter and Statlander Quote
The King Of Swing Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 Sorry but I find myself agreeing with @RedTwoster, Willow and Harley, are both really starting to bore me. Though I'm blaming TK's lazy booking of the woman's division, and not them. Sisters of Sin? More like Sisters of Cringe. Get Thekla, the fuck away from them. Calling it now. Riho does the job and quickly vanishes off of TV. Didn't even bother giving her someone worth beating, this week. Now watch her win the fucking title ? Quote

Merzbow Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 (edited) They've never known how to keep any momentum on him, he's likely never being a main eventer but I like the lad and he's deserves better than the weird stop/start booking too many guys get. Dunno if you've heard the SCG podcasts (sort of) returning to the Monday Night Wars but they advocate for shorter matches - ones that fit between ad breaks - and make a great argument for it. I'm in agreement. I didn't watch 18 minutes of Roddy Strong, I had it in the background, but if not, I would have jumped through it anyway. I remember when there was a big call out for longer matches years ago and the argument would be that short matches (with finishes) didn't make sense when PPV matches between the same people went longer, but I've never been into longer matches for the sake of it. Given AEW rarely stick PPV matches on TV, they'd be miles better having shorter matches given the fast nature of their TV product. They could still establish who is worth a fuck by differentiating between 2 minute, 4 minute and 8 minute matches and how much the loser is given and then the matches that really matter for big titles or between bigger names can go longer on occasion and feel special. The King of Old School Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 Yeah agree with much of the above, as much as i like AEW, every match doesn't need to be a 15-20 minute back and forth epic contest. Quote
