Paid Members BomberPat Posted September 29, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 29, 2025 Garcia is brilliant at making you feel like he's a real professional fighter. I don't necessarily mean just in the way that he wrestles, but the way he talks about and reacts to his matches - early in his AEW run, after he lost a match, he would Tweet about the mistakes he made, and what he would do differently if he were in the same situation again. The way he reacts to wins and losses feels genuine in ways you very rarely see. The problem is that it feels like he's always being booked to have a mentor without ever really having the chance to surpass any of them; Chris Jericho, Bryan Danielson, Daddy Magic, Nigel McGuinness, and now Moxley, and I'm probably forgetting others. FTR, Paragon, and I think Shibata all floated around him at points, too. Quote

A forgotten but brilliant story full of great promos and matches. He's really good, but a combination of dodgy booking and never finding that next level performance wise has held him back. I’d have been fine with them letting him go back when his contract was up. The daft dancing and general association with Jericho turned him into something he should never have been in the first place, a character in a company where realism often thrives. The Death Riders has had its fair share of missteps, but it’s a stable that has had more value than it gets credit for. Hangman needed them to turn face and forgive Swerve - then have that magical title win. Wheeler Yuta has grown significantly in the group and Garcia is doing the same. Marina Shafir has played her part well, but I still think it’s a shame her slot didn’t go to someone who has a chance of becoming a top star in the women’s division. Pitting that person (Statlander comes to mind as a good candidate) against Toni Storm would have felt big. Quote

And the dancing. I thought he was an ideal fit for the Blackpool Combat Club a few years ago to be honest, agree with the conscientious that he could be really good, just not sure if they have pulled the trigger a bit late. Part of the reason Garcia's story in the first Continental Classic was so good was the dance. The dance was originally a dumb sports entertainment spot for heel heat but then became something that actively held him back and made him lose matches. He did it in a match with Danielson and Danielson absolutely murdered him for it. Eventually pressure grew on him to drop the dance but instead of that he reclaimed it as an act of babyface defiance. It was great! I think it's probably time for him to drop it now though. Quote
Infinity Land Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 Blood & Guts will be held on November 12th at Greensboro Coliseum. It will be interesting to see what the teams end up being. Would have to think the Tag Title tournament will play out between now and then. That could allow for some twists and turns to keep things interesting. On a different note ticket sales for Manchester in December have passed 7k. Considering there's not been a ton of marketing and it has almost passed Glasgow with months to spare, that's quite impressive. Collision this week made me wish we could trade in ROH for Dark/Elevation. It's not going to happen. It doesn't matter how low ROH is, it is a revenue generator. The two do completely different jobs as far as i'm concerned. The youtube shows had talent get reps that focused on presentation and character in front of a crowd. Tayjay cut a backstage promo but never actually wrestled anywhere last week. The two haven't had a 2v2 tag match since June. AEW also promoted Dark/Elevation on social media so you would have a general awareness of things going on even if you never watched it. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted September 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 30, 2025 (edited) Tasty looking card for what I hope is a huge celebration for the Six Year Anniversary. If it comes anywhere close to the Celebration when they overtook Nitro, we’re in for a treat. That was probably the best episode of pro-wrestling TV all year. Hopefully nobody looming over to this show, threatening to suck the life out of everything with a Judas Kiss. Might it be worth a discussion on everyone’s favourite Dynamite moments? The first thing that springs to mind was a few weeks after CM Punk debuted, the crowd did the, “Yes!” chant and Punk responded, “that’s someone else’s shtick and you might need to be a little bit more patient.” CM Punk back in wrestling, all but confirming Bryan Danielson was coming in too. In that moment, anything seemed possible. I think everything is going to be totally great forever. Edited September 30, 2025 by Supremo Quote

In that moment, anything seemed possible. I think everything is going to be totally great forever. I'm not great at remembering recent stuff. Bit like football. I could tell you who won the FA Cup in 1985, the score, the scorers and how they got on in the Charity Shield but 2020-2024 is a mystery. 2025 would be too if I hadn't listened to a pod earlier that mentioned Palace. I'm the same with Dynamite highlights. The brilliant Hangman/Dark Order entrance comes to mind because someone posts it on here every few months. I saw AEW shared the vid of Mox putting Kenny through a glass table earlier, which was an awesome moment. Mad bastards. I'm struggling now though. Sting's debut was epic. That was a Dynamite, right? The first Winter is coming? Quote

Infinity Land Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 Keeping it to just the last year since there was a 5 year thread. Grand Slam Mexico. It might not have a standout match like the first Grand Slam with Danielson v. Omega. As a spectacle it really stood out. Toni Storm has obviously been a highlight of any show she's been on. The past year had her return as the original Toni Storm building to the rematch against Mariah May. Which usually balanced the right kind of dumb fun you want from wrestling. You're never too far away from some good matches. Swerve v, Ospreay basically opened the show with a time-limit draw on one of those 3-4 hour blocks as they knew they had time. Quote

Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted September 30, 2025 Awards Moderator Posted September 30, 2025 (edited) Mistico’s entrance at Grand Slam Mexico is one of my favourite moments of the year full stop, not just Dynamite. I watch it every month or so just to enjoy it again. He might get reactions like this every week, but I’d never seen it before, and it still gives me goosebumps. I’ve known of Mistico for nearly 20 years now and this was the moment I properly realised just how much he means to people. Bless AEW for letting this play out with a minimum of cuts away or announcer chat. Magic. Just magic. Edited September 30, 2025 by HarmonicGenerator I wish I knew enough Spanish to sing along Quote

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted October 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted October 1, 2025 I've watched it about three times. That episode of Dynamite is stuck on my Triller front page now. Just utterly perfect stuff. I hope the title reign goes down as a great one so that holds up and isn't something that's got depressing over time, like CM Punk's debut. Even though I didn't understand most of it, Hangman cutting a promo in Spanish was absolutely stunning TV and a great example of not treating the audience like idiots. It was only on YouTube but I applaud them doing it for Penta in AAA too. Quote
