Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted June 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 19, 2025 Brilliant show. I thought the finish to Mones match was a bit flat, but the rest of it was great, and that shot of her belts all flying was beautiful! Quote
Merzbow Posted June 19, 2025 Posted June 19, 2025 The crowd really made this show shine even more than usual, didn't need commentary doing the WWE thing of making excuses for certain guys being boo'ed etc but they were hot as hell for so many guys. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted June 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 19, 2025 A great show. That opening is why I'm so pleased AEW exists. It's insane to send someone out there to cut a promo in what he'd call pretty average Spanish, risking alienating your Spanish audience and the English speaking one, in the midst of the fucking MAGAs running your country. Such a ballsy move and I'm here for it. Came off brilliant, the crowd popped where they needed to, Excalibur did a good job of keeping you up with it without stomping all over it. Proper loved the effort everyone put into their gear. Hobbs was absolutely stunning. The ending was blindingly obvious as the Jackson muppet crawled into position. Only a slight negative. Mox and Hangman absorbing each others blows but one being enough to smash Yuta was funny stuff. On such a roll. Don't want to see it end. Quote
Paid Members mim731 Posted June 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 19, 2025 Was Hangman a Spanish teacher back in his old job? Or have I imagined that? Either way, it was a great call to have him do it and based on the reaction he nailed it. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted June 19, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 19, 2025 One lad is forgetting his promo and stumbling over his lines, looking like shit. The other is delivering great promos in a completely different language. Who’s the empty headed dumb fuck now. Quote

Honestly one of the most underrated aspects of that whole situation was how he never ever sold anything Punk did. He got his own show and he still couldn't enjoy it because he was paying rent that Hangman didn't even want to take off him. Quote

You're gonna have to eat those words when Pepsi Phil cuts a perfect promo in Arabic at Night of Champions. Edited June 19, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote

This. I want more Film Noir Toni Storm. Outstanding. Really enjoyed that show - great crowd, and Hangman is a hero. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted June 20, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted June 20, 2025 (edited) I think the varied venues has really freshened up AEW this year. Every show looking different and having a unique vibe makes every show feel like more essential viewing rather than "just another weekly episode" and disappearing in a smudge of the same visuals. One week we're in a Masonic lodge, the next an old concert venue, the next Arena Mexico. I bloody love it. It makes it feel like AEW is taking place in the real wider world rather than just in a weird unreal vacuum. Hangman cutting that promo really made AEW stand out and was a brave thing for them to do. During a time with deportations/racial tensions to have your top guy coming out to do a promo in Spanish about how much he learned from the Mexican people and how important it is to be united...it's top guy stuff. Makes you feel like you can watch AEW guilt free. Apparently CMLL are now desperate to book Hangman for more dates and who can blame them. I'd love to get a date with Hangman, he's a beautiful man. I hope Hechicero can be a full time addition to AEW. He's really great and brings something different that fits in well. Fits the Don Callis Family like a glove. I don't really feel like Hangman saved Swerve. It felt more like he wanted to beat up Jon Moxley and saved Swerve as a by product of that. That group of proper babyfaces standing tall in the ring together at the end was lovely stuff. I would pay good money for a Mortos/Joe singles match. Funny how this promotion has moved on so quickly from Jericho and Copeland not being on TV. Take your time, fellas, we don't need you right now...or possibly ever. If Adam Cole would use his real personality and wrestle to his size there's probably something there. But he needs to forget how to be too cool for school and be real. Until then he's always going to be shit. Edited June 20, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote
Paid Members Chris B Posted June 20, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 20, 2025 The Hangman promo was top-level stuff. Just hearing the crowd response build was tremendous. And between that and Brody King, it felt like it meant something. I can't understand thinking it shouldn't have been on TV. Echo the suggestion that this should be an annual thing. It's lovely and felt like a massive deal. Quote

KFC President Jack Blues Bieber launches Nuclear strikes against FIFA in terrifying escalation of Forever War II. People are still bringing up comparisons between CM Punk and Adam 'Hangman' Page. I feel like his run was quite damaging to AEW in hindsight. The list of homegrown names he beat is long and the only singles matches he lost were to Christian (but won the feud) and Mox. Quote
