Slapnut Posted January 18, 2025 Posted January 18, 2025 I’ve currently got Summerslam 2002 on and Flair enters to his early 90s WWF theme rather than his usual one. Did he come out to it at the actual show, or has it been overdubbed on Netflix? Quote

The home release of that is fucking bizarre (sorry Davey Boy). The nWo, Undertaker and Booker T all come out to weird knock off version's of their music and I still have no idea why. Quote
davertfnewman Posted January 18, 2025 Posted January 18, 2025 The reverse of this is his 2002 music with the whoo at the start being overdubbed for WrestleMania VIII. Quote
Paid Members 2Xtreme_lives Posted January 18, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 18, 2025 I think there's some Netflix'n just checked my NAS on my old live tape rips, Summerslam Flair comes out to the usual 2001 space and Backlash too so must be copyright reasons nWo, Taker etc on Backlash is normal I think it's all copyright related wasn't there something that WWE don't own the nWo theme, Taker at Backlash was Rollin' Booker not sure Quote
Sphinx Posted January 18, 2025 Posted January 18, 2025 Booker's samples a few songs, including one from Kraftwerk. Quote

There must have been some sort of dispute going on around that time as I recall nWo & Booker both having alternative music (presume the same one as used on the Backlash video?) on WrestleMania X8 for the Gamecube. DavidB6937 Posted January 19, 2025 Posted January 19, 2025 The WWE UK Facebook has said SNME is on Netflix. Closest to official confirmation as we've got I think. Quote

Edit: It's dubbed with his 1992 WWF theme. And I have the UK SilverVision release from 2002. I'm sure a lot of the other releases had his genuine WWF/WWE Theme... People thought that Smackdown on 3rd Jan was going to be on Netflix when the Netflix app said it wasn’t. What is also notably not on Netflix is the weekly Main Event show even though matches are still being taped for it. I am wondering if WWE might be carving out potential for a minor rights package of the weekly Main Event show and the quarterly SNMEs. Bit like Channel 4 had with Heat and 4 PPVs. If nobody wants to buy the rights from them then they can just stick SNME on YouTube in the region. So apparently WWE UK socials are now saying SNME will be on YouTube. So we should not just expect Netflix will have absolutely everything WWE does. Edited January 21, 2025 by TheAdder Adding YouTube link Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 22, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 22, 2025 Wild watching BBC news this morning, reporting on Netflix hitting record profits and them specifically mentioning WWE. I hope Undisputed WWE Champion Kevin Owens takes a well-deserved victory lap. Quote

Of course you do. It's copyright. The nWo theme includes a sample from Highway Chile and they've dubbed over it loads of times. Wouldn't surprise me if they'd lost the rights to Rollin' for home video by that point too. They always dubbed Edge's Rob Zombie theme as well. Booker T... nope, not a clue. Unless it was a Jimmy Hart one and they didn't want to pay him. Plenty of his used to get dubbed on the Network. Quote

No my point was on the Backlash VHS specifically, they seemed to adjust/replace the themes. Actually I say this, I never saw No Way Out, Mania X8 etc on video/DVD, so it's just my brain acting very strangely. Quote
