The parliament has voted down the imposition of martial law, so have to hope the army stand down and the President, figuratively, falls on his sword.

I love that it's somehow the DPRK's fault, the president blaming the popularity of the opposition party (and the worst ever approval rates of himself) on the evil Communists from up north.

Syria is an amazing situation really. Rebels have taken control with very little conflict and al-Assad has fled. Seems very much like the rebels are the popular ones in this battle and it'll be interesting how this all plays out with the other key players involved in the area (Russia, Israel, Hezbollah, Iran) and their involvement

Good riddance to the horrible cunt. I remember back in 2012/13 when it made the news during the civil unrest, al-Assad got his military to drop chemical gas and bombs on his own civilians. Killing and maiming thousands. Just thinking is this guy, fucking mental?! And he looks like Mr Bean.

From what I've been reading, it's been so easy for the rebel forces to take control of the country because Iran/Russia are too busy backing the Ukraine war effort. All of their support for Syria has diminished, and with very little army. The rebels could just take over.

Worth pointing out that the rebel group are basically an ISIS/AQ offshoot and not really anyone we should be happy about taking over Syria. Nothing good will come from this.
