The match with LFI was good. I was pretty annoyed LFI lost because I would put it all behind them as the next tag champs if I had the book but I suppose they can hold off for a little while. Not too long though - Rush and Mortos need that gold. Build the division around them! 

Seperate point - Harley Cameron is turning into something pretty decent in the ring as well as being one of the most bonkers fun characters they currently have. You can now add her to the list of women on the roster who are better than Britt Baker. Give her 5 minutes of TV each week and she's guaranteed to give you something worthwhile. She's not going to stand there with a boo boo face saying "no one cares"

And she can do the 'tit off' with all the female division....Although when she went 'head to head' with Mina, a little part of me did hope that Renee joined in too, but no such luck.....

Yeah I'm optimistic too. He's one of the few genuinely unlikeable heels I've seen in ages. It's great watching him get beaten up - if he can channel that and firmly establish himself as a singles act then he'll basically have a job for life.

I thought Garcia looked excellent again during that Okada match. If they have the patience, I'd be up for them giving him the 'nearly-man' role at this years tournament with an eye to him winning it next year - a 2/3 year story of Garcia going from tournament loser to bridesmaid to Continental champion sounds good to me but with AEW the risk is that he doesn't get cold in the meantime.

It was probably the best Okada has looked since joining AEW too. It's about time he had something substantial to sink his teeth into, as I'm getting increasingly bored of 'flips the bird then wrestles to a time limit draw'.

Watching WWE nailing absolutely everything at the moment, hot as balls, just makes me extra depressed about the state of AEW. I just want them to tighten up and get it together. On WWE television, you see all these amazing ripples from storyline beats, fully thought out and satisfying to follow.

Roman Reigns not apologising to Jey or Sami has all these clever, interesting consequences amongst numerous stories and characters. By contrast, John Silver brought his nunchucks to work one week, then was never seen again. It does my head in.

This was something though. A real record-scratch-freeze-frame moment. Forget Darby. The saviour is right here. Hangman Adam Page’s Redemption Arc is exactly what this company needs!

I’ve been rewatching old Dynamites recently, and it’s sad to see how far AEW’s storytelling has fallen. They did everything WWE does now - older Dynamites are packed with slow-building, character-based stories and for the most part, the stories feel focused and purposeful. And those crowds…fuck me, WWE is selling out shows right now, but it’s rare that they have as rabid a crowd in the US as AEW used to have. 

I feel like things started to go wrong because AEW started to do too much of everything. There are too many shows, too many wrestlers, too many titles, too many individual storylines that don’t ever connect - it’s near impossible to have the kind of focus they once did. If they have aspirations of getting back to the heights of 2020-early 2022, they need to have an utterly ruthless cull to become something more manageable and easier to follow.

For me it's also the stop-starts of the pushes, which definitely plays into the 'too many' angle you've said there. I struggle to buy into people getting attention and pushes knowing that inevitably most of them will be forgotten about in a few weeks, so why bother? You know Tony will find someone else interesting eventually.

I actually think that probably plays into the crowd stuff too. When you look at WWE now, they've done such a great job of investing time and proper pushes into their main stars and you see the crowd into them completely. They've created stars and given people reasons to care. AEW? Not so much. But it's okay, at least we've got some randoms from Japan.

Is The Beast Mortos the only Continental Classic guy who’s had to wrestle extra matches beyond the tournament? The past two weeks he’s been in non-tournament matches that don’t seem to be for any reason. Doesn’t seem fair when none of the rest of them have to!

I’m not sure if this is a misunderstanding of the word Inhumane, or he really feels this way (and for context this was after a reply he made on a post saying one day he’ll tell the truth on what’s going on with him and AEW), but it feels a bit extreme considering he’s being paid.

Now, as Tony’s number 1 fan I can say I think what’s happening stinks. It’s what we’ve complained WWE have done in the past. Basically holding someone to ransom who doesn’t want to be there anymore. On the other hand he signed the deal, and re-signed the deal later on so contractually it’s all above board. But if I was running the company I’d let him go and the money saved invest elsewhere.

It’s a shame because it was a decent episode of Collision. I liked the small venue, it looked different. Kyle Fletcher has to go through to the finals at least surely?

With Lucha Underground, AAA and now AEW the Lucha Bros have a knack for getting themselves in tricky contractual situations. They need to stop listening to that prick Konnan.

Regardless, AEW should let him go. They gain nothing from this. Or just use the guy - job him out then release him.
