Punk was falling apart in AEW. All the backstage drama is the memorable bit but if you take that away, he was trying to do stuff his body wasn't having. Going to WWE was absolutely the best thing for him from that POV, to barely work and to have to do fuck all when he did.

I think there is zero chance of it anyway. Most likely it'll get smoothed over (whatever it is) and he'll be back by Summerslam.

If he wanted to go back to AEW, just get Tony to give him ROH as his own personal fiefdom. Like when he had Collision, but with no actual crossover with AEW. It'll be like his own little NXT. Everyone wins.

I'd put a few more women in ROH to tempt him first because Phil isn't gonna be throwing Starbucks gift cards to Preston Vance is he.

I love the Starbucks thing because in wrestling if a veteran wrestler gives all the women gift cards for free coffee it's to show what a lovely bloke he is but any other workplace they'd be immediately thought of as the office creepy weirdo and HR would probably get involved.

Also the rebel punk-rocker being an ambassador for Starbucks of all places is very funny too*.

*I know 'CM Punk is not a real punk' is the most tiresome talk going. Just couldn't resist the easy gag. Sorry lads.

I'd reckon a lot of them might suss it's a bit off, but there is a weird system in wrestling of levels of elders/veterans respect AND they're wrestlers so they're gonna take any free shit they can aren't they.

Partridge Cloud | i paid for yours. all your segments are intact.

Punk to Jade Cargill after an unnecessarily long hug (having just given Terry's Chocolate Oranges with superficial damage to the rest of the womens locker room)

(similar hair now tbh)

The guys an embarrassment and all of this has been really funny, mostly. Going back to those gobshites and watching the whole WWE enterprise sink further and further into the shit with him tied to the mast totally unable to do anything about it but smile and wave like a total prick and then ALLEGEDLY get asked to take a fucking pay cut is just beautiful. A proper empire on sand, if the sand had shite in it. Him reaping the whirlwind for once in his life would be great.  ***

Wrestlevotes, who in fairness do seem to have had some inside sources in the past, have debunked the rumours and apparently Punk is just having some time off to heal up.  So that's probably that.

I agree - and even if he did quit, I don’t see why AEW would bring him back. While you would gain a few dream matches, you’d ruffle so many feathers that the trade-off just wouldn’t be worth it. And that’s assuming Punk even wanted to go back himself. AEW would be insane to even consider re-signing the guy, and I say that as someone who quite likes him.

But like you, I expect him to return to WWE TV sooner rather than later.
