TheScarlettChad Posted June 10 Posted June 10 I remember the bonkers speculation he'd go to NJPW before he went back to WWE. He's turn to dust! Quote
BrodyGraham Posted June 10 Posted June 10 That Night 2 Main Event was the platonic ideal of what you're ever getting out of CM Punk these days. What's he gonna do anywhere else? He's nowhere near the level of however much is left of Ospreay. Punk Vs Kenny isn't the draw it was 4 years ago. He isn't killing himself wrestling people with, let's face it, no marquee value in Japan, TNA or Mexico. He'll ride out the rest of his contract looking as jacked as he can and laugh about how he conned TKO into giving his wife a payday she didn't warrant at Mania. Quote
AshC Posted June 10 Posted June 10 We get the Cody match at Summerslam, right? Two nights to sell. Could be a good one. I'd like to see him work with Gunther again, also. Quote

So that's probably that. Probably that and likely him and AJ didn’t have a proper grieving period for Larry due to their schedules Wouldn’t surprise me if they bring him back for the July 6th Raw with it being in Chicago Quote
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted June 11 Paid Members Posted June 11 I think the most interesting part is the last time he was seen in WWE it was to say he wasn’t going anywhere and then disappear. I think he’s probably pissed off about the budget cuts but isn’t affected and he’s just enjoying some time off and it’s all a nothing burger. Quote
The Gaffer Posted June 11 Posted June 11 It's also perfectly possible to say you're sticking around, take a break, and have this not be a contradiction. I feel like this is a trope from when Cena/Rock were trading barbs in 2012 that needs to die a swift death (along with wrestlers - including in Punk's case - getting the ball rolling on it, of course). Paid Members LaGoosh Posted June 11 Author Paid Members Posted June 11 Punk has always wanted to be in a big part timer spot. He's probably got it written in his contract that he's obligated to have time off. Quote

If the last 5 years have taught us anything, it's that he can be really effective used infrequently and in big matches where he can take 8-12 weeks to prepare for it like a boxer preparing for a fight. If you try and let him live out his 'fighting champion' mid-life crisis dreams of wrestling twice a week, he'll break down and look knackered and his tricep will pop. Let him wrestle 4 times a year against the big names, have banger main events at the big PPV's, and then pop him back in cotton wool to keep him safe for the next one. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted June 11 Paid Members Posted June 11 Everyone always wondering what’s going to take Dirty Dom to the next level, when the answer has been there since he broke into the business twenty years ago. Quote
Merzbow Posted June 12 Posted June 12 From Dave: Quote There was a lot of talk about Punk rumors this past week. The Punk departure the week after he had said that he’s a guy who is there every week was strange, but we were told he was being taken off because they had no creative for him and would be back when his angle was to start. The plan right now is for him to return on Smackdown, which is basically a balancing act. The belief is with Raw having Reigns, Rollins, The Usos, Fatu, Femi, Logan Paul and Breakker that Punk made more sense on Smackdown with a top tier of Rhodes, Gunther, Ripley and soon to be Punk, Orton and McIntyre. Plus Rhodes vs. Punk has been a direction. The return date of 7/6 Raw in Chicago makes sense, although that is a Raw date, not Smackdown, but that’s really not material in the sense Chicago does make sense for him to appear. I don't buy they had no creative for him, even as bad as WWE creative currently is. Quote
BarryOVega Posted June 12 Posted June 12 So the plan is for him to return on SmackDown but he’ll probably return on an episode of Raw? Glad Dave the Div cleared that one up Being a narky twat aside, the wrestlers on each show he lists reminds me slightly of the lists Bret had to work with in ‘97 as a face or heel, never need to see Punk near McIntyre again but him on SmackDown, specifically as a heel, would freshen things up no end Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Punk has to turn heel surely. Comes back yolked to fuck desperate to hang with Cody etc. Loses his first title match and then loses his mind and murders Cody. Quote
