Merzbow
As much as I love Eddie, he'd shit himself if it was Scotty Steiner going "HE'S FAT".
RedRooster
So over the past week we’ve had FTR calling out Tony Khan, telling him to actually book them, and Andrade calling out Sammy Guevara on Twitter, and talking about wanting to leave - which, if it’s a work, is a bloody stupid one. Assuming it’s all legit, it doesn’t exactly paint a great picture of how certain wrestlers perceive Khan, and his ability to do anything about what they’re saying. The sheer frequency of things like this is actually quite deflating, as someone who actually wants to enjoy AEW as a wrestling company, ignoring the backstage stuff. While TNA did some truly stupid shit on screen, I can’t remember even there hearing contracted performers publicly criticising management, colleagues and the company so frequently. Edited October 4, 2022 by RedRooster

DavidB6937
The FTR thing is weird. I don't get why they're not being used more. They're one of the most over acts in the company and put on some of the best matches. Is there a valid reason or is Tony just spread too thin and failing in certain areas? Andrade.. well he's a whole different thing. I can see why they wouldn't consistently push him. He's a bit here and there. But FTR? That's just confusing. I think with FTR Tony is trying to highlight the Acclaimed and as much as we are love the Acclaimed, they shouldn’t have been champs over FTR, so I think he booked himself into a corner there.
Paid Members Nick James Posted October 4, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted October 4, 2022 Just been reading this embarrassment of a tweet and the copping that Tony is getting, then saw this thread had been bumped so presumed that was why.  Imagine being the CEO of a company, Director at another and acting like a 16 year old on Twitter. What's as hilarious is Portnoy being his usual bellend self and getting the wrong person. Loki
I have no idea who that is or what is going on here, can you provide ANY context? Edited October 4, 2022 by Loki
Paid Members Nick James Posted October 4, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted October 4, 2022 Dave Portnoy is the president / owner of Barstool Sports that are quite big in America, he claims Tony Khan got one of his shows cancelled then acted like he has no idea what he was on about when they met at an event. Portnoy was corrected on this by one of his staff that it was Nick Khan, not Tony Khan. Tony Khan just can't help himself, but reply to things like this. The context is all there in the twitter thread and there's more info on what and why the show got cancelled in the comments to the 'Big Cat' tweet. What's humourous is that Portnoy will have been silently fuming with Tony Khan each time they have met without actually addressing it. A relatively big company in the States drags Tony Khan's name publicly. Whoops wrong guy. Tony Khan then uses the publicity to confirm the correction and promote his show. It's not like he was doing a vanity search and engaging with troll accounts.

Don't think any of us will know the full story. FTR got the ability to start taking indie bookings at the end of last year. That's how the Briscoes v. FTR was being set up. First half of the year they were doing a few. Dream matches against Rock & Rolls and American Wolves. Then it kinda dried up. Not only that they've not really worked any of the bigger indies with an online presence: GameChanger, Defy. Warrior, Prestige, Revolver, HOG. If they wanted to have a career year beyond TV, they've had the ability to do it themselves. Plenty of promotions would love to have FTR on their card. Going into the weekend just gone there does look like the Gunns are next on AEW. Not anyone's idea of a dream match, but something's better than nothing. Guest
Helps babyface FTR and crowd respond regardless. Getting paid not to bump, what a shame for them
