Hacksaw Duggan is a right potty-mouth these days.

That Ozempic doing wonders I see.

The thing that baffles me the most IF he took a 50% pay cut, other than the obvious, is it means fuck all. They can still sack him at anytime anyway. Say what you will about Tony Khan but the only people who didn’t get paid for their full contract were sex pests and presumably CM Punk.

Or maybe Zayn ends up winning the title back at Mania and people dissecting every show look like knobs?

The original plan was for Zayn to win the title at Mania so maybe this is a start of a storyline that leads to Zayn beating Punk or Rhodes at Mania for the title.

I don't think WWE see Zayn as the main guy but they feel like they will have something similar to when Daniel Bryan got really popular.

Who said that was the plan?

Also I'd be shocked if there was an uproar about Sami to the point where they needed to do some sort of babyface underdog title run for him.

His story has been pushing him towards the heel side of things.

The majority of the fanbase will be happy Punk has it.

Just rumours and nothing concrete but I have seen a few places saying that is the original plan.

Even if it was the original plan it might end up like that.

Old wrestlers are always saying that new wrestlers don't know how to work and now we are at the point where older fans are saying that new fans don't know how to fan. It may be annoying, but when you've mortgaged your house to sit in the nosebleeds and make pasta with Ethan Paige you should be able to do whatever you like as a fan.

It's worth saying that this could happen, but until recently Sami has been staggeringly unpopular with younger fans on social. Whether he was a face or heel, people seemed completely done with him and 'Sami Hogan' was a commonly used term.

We're all of an age here where I think Sami means something to us, but I don't think the love is as universal as it was with Bryan or even Kingston.

That could change, as people are drawn to wrestlers they feel have been treated unfairly though.

Not watching so I'd love to know how Sami Zayn gets the Hogan tag. What was he up to that made people think that?

I really don't know, as I tend to skim most of their content from socials.

I think the general vibe seems to be he hung around the same mid card, US title scene for too long and the younger fans wanted Trick and Carmelo etc to be free of him. And then he 'stole' Carmelo's Wrestlemania spot and everyone got sad.

There's lots of chat about him and how much people don't seem to like him, but it's very hard to get to a 'why'.

I feel like it started around the time when Chad Gable was feuding with Gunther but then Sami was the one to face him at WrestleMania. I also know he got some flack for appearing at that Tony Hinchcliffe roast twice.

I've just watched the match in full, which is rare for me these days.

Forget the politics or booking or whatever for a second... good grief CM Punk is a good wrestler at the minute. Or, at the very least, within the context of the WWE style he is by far the best bell-to-bell wrestler in the company.

At a time when more and more stuff seems overly contrived, clean, rehearsed or colloborative, his matches always seem like a struggle/a battle/a fight. I think the fact he's personally probably a bit knackered and fighting the clock helps, but everything he does allows you to suspend your disbelief that you're watching a real scrap.

I think in other companies his ability wouldn't shine quite so much, but where he is allows him to just look the absolute bollocks. I'd watch his matches all day over watching pretty much any other WWE match once.

Quality. I hope the old man continues scrapping for a while yet.

There was a leaked phone call where Kevin Owens told Sami he was banging Titus O’Neil and Sami had some pretty unsavoury remarks.

Shout out to all the naive fools fantasy booking Sami Zayn vs. CM Punk for Summerslam. Presumably the same people who truly believed Baron Corbin wouldn’t really be Kurt Angle’s final opponent. Charlotte Flair wouldn’t really turn the Becky vs. Ronda match into a Triple Threat.

It’s Punk vs. Cody at Summerslam, lads. Anyone with eyes and a brain can see that. They’ve got a two-night stadium show to sell and they’ve made it abundantly clear where Sami slots in their mind. Spoiler; it’s not headlining Summerslam, shifting stadium tickets.

Sami will likely get his rematch at Saturday Night’s Main Event, lose again, and then return to the midcard where they believe he belongs. If he’s lucky, he might mix it up with Bloodline 2000 before the year is out. My dawg.

It’s far from the end of the World. I’m actually buzzing we’re finally getting Cody vs. Punk, and I’m happy they’re doing it now rather than wasting it on Blood Money Mania. However, it is fascinating how they’ve developed this crazy ability to do huge, dream matches under circumstances that somehow undermine them.

Last year they did Punk vs. Cena - something I could have only dreamed about a year prior - but they flushed away all the excitement by doing it in Saudi Arabia and building the whole thing around making Punk look like a plank.

Same thing here. I should be jazzed about both Roman vs. Seth (The Shield are my favourite faction ever) and Cody vs. Punk (the only last true dream match), but in both cases they’ve managed to muddy the waters and make me want to see it less.

With what’s been presented to be on television, Roman Reigns should be getting smashed to smithereens by Oba Femi at Summerslam. And if Punk vs. Cody had to be for the belt then they shouldn’t have bothered using Sami to transition it to Punk. Now, rather than this being the biggest match possible, I just resent both of them for fighting over my boy’s belt. Man won it fairly. Man lost it completely unfairly, to a surprise opponent he couldn’t prepare for, in his home town. They screwed him. They really screwed him, the lousy bastards.

They had a great chance to do something really cool.

Oba murders Brock and sends him into retirement.

Ends Roman's title reign on Night 2. Make a star.

But lol nope. Shield bollocks. They can't even really do much with that because Mox isn't ever going back to WWE.
