Tonight must be the first time in years and years. Maybe when Big E won or defended it? A real tree-falls-in-the-woods-but-no-one-is-around-to-hear-it scenario. If the proper top belt is defended, on the A show, in a match that will likely play host to the return of one of your top stars, in his home town, but it happens in twenty twenty six when they’ve pissed away all the goodwill they had, did it ever really happen? You're not giving them enough credit. They're doing everything they can for you. Seth is opening the show! Quote
Doog Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) I only skim watched Smackdown last week but was it explained as to why the WWE Title is being defended on RAW? Between two Smackdown superstars? I know its obviously because its in Chicago and they want Punk bsck to set up challenging for it and move to Smackdown, but that's obviously not the story in storyline. I know I shouldn't take it so seriously as obviously they dont, but things like this really make a mockery of the roster split and it pisses me off. Edited July 6 by Doog Quote

First few years they were really good with it, 2002 - end of 2006 they proper stuck to it and it was good, but yeah been downhill since. Especially odd as you'll have a World Title being defended in the main event, and Rollins kicking off thr show talking about challenging for a separate World Title. Oh well. Quote

Gooner Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Hopefully this show is where Punk returns after Rhodes regains the title to set up their Summerslam match, if they have decided to not hold off on it until next year's Wrestlemania. Quote
Chili Posted July 6 Posted July 6 It would be quite a choice to not have Punk return here in Chicago. Quote

Due to Nick Aldis being suspended Adam Pearce is running both shows So he has obviously thought whilst I'm here might as well boost my own show and take what would be the biggest match for his rivals show and stick it on his own instead Genius move if you ask me Quote

Basically Nick Aldis confronts and accuses Adam Pearce of taking advantage of his temporary suspension so he could "steal my main event." Later it is Aldis, not Pearce, who sets up Punk as the new challenger, and in doing so potentially steal a Raw superstar for Smackdown. One of the rare times they've actually bothered coming up with a reason why the brand split has been ignored. Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted July 7 Posted July 7 To be fair to them, at least they didn't go the obvious route. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted July 7 Paid Members Posted July 7 Streets are saying Triple H spent longer between hitting Booker T with the Pedigree and then going for the pin at Wrestlemania 19, than he did letting Sami Zayn be WWE Champion. Quote
