Paid Members Supremo Posted June 2 Paid Members Posted June 2 (edited) Oba looked fucking incredible beating people up mid-entrance and then still hitting his pose, but people trying to argue this proves he wasn’t damaged by the loss to Brock are just further proving the point that it was a stupid decision in the first place. A huge loss this early in his career would’ve been justified if it took the character in a new or interesting direction, but there’s none of that. He’s back doing what he was already doing, only with the added sense of them trying to paint over the cracks and make up for the massive bollock they dropped. Did he still look the business and get a huge reaction, despite going to a score draw with Lesnar? Yes. But do you know what would have been even better? If he did exactly this after completing a 2-0 clean sweep. The momentum would be even bigger. That’s the crux. They didn’t have Oba lose to Brock for any meaningful reason. They just did it to do it because - ahem - it’s what they do. Oba all but said as much in his Cena-at-his-worst-inspired “LOL, don’t even care that I lost,” post-match promo. “Brock, I’ll see you down the line when we do our inevitable rematch because Hunter has about six ideas that he recycles until the end of time, one of which being the win-trading-trilogy.” Edited June 2 by Supremo Quote

He could have carried on doing what he's been doing. Maybe, then, frustrated by big names swerving him he signs up for King of the Ring, and then at some point Brock returns then and costs him, setting up the Summerslam match. Oba beats Brock at Summerslam as is going to happen anyway, only without this slightly odd deviation so WWE can tell everyone 'See these guys, yeah? They're all as good as each other.' Oddest booking habit of all time. All as shit as each other. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted June 2 Paid Members Posted June 2 (edited) On the plus side, at least the babyface in the feud understands how a trilogy works. Nothing funnier than Brock after the match screaming, “that’s one plus one…you’re done bitch!” What the fuck are you on about? How is he, “done,”? You’re definitionally even! WWE’s writing took such a nose-dive in recent years that I’m now having to find the heelishness in wrestlers not understanding basic maths. Spare a thought for Bron Breakker. Lost to Seth in what felt like the end of the feud on this show, cursed to be Tag Team Champion with default-Create-A-Wrestler Austin Theory, and now Brock Lesnar has even stolen Steiner math! Bron’s got nuffink left! Can’t catch a break(ker)! Edited June 2 by Supremo Quote

Not a chance Jacob can recapture even half of that magic. He’s nowhere near as Ucey. I did wonder if the Zayn sort-of heel-turn on SmackDown will eventually lead to him re-joining the Bloodline down the road. Possibly if there is a pay off to the Cody stuff with Zayn, and also that weird stare down Cody and Reigns had on the Clash in Italy post show. Got to try and get the band back together. Then people can shout "Cinema!" again and we can continue this cycle to diminishing returns until we're all dead. Quote

Then people can shout "Cinema!" again and we can continue this cycle to diminishing returns until we're all dead. Zayn wins the WWE title in shady circumstances, drawing praise from Roman. This upsets Jey, leading to him turning on Roman. Roman Vs Jey at Survivor Series. Cody is also upset at losing the title, and decides he’s going to win the Rumble and main event Wrestlemania again. He does just that, shockingly deciding to challenge Roman Reigns for the World title to ‘finish his story once again.’ Fans are a bit miffed and fed up of Cody vs Reigns, responding accordingly. …so Cody listens, and ‘rights a wrong’ by donating his title shot to The Rock, finally healing the wounds Rock suffered several years ago, while also giving Saudi Arabia the big match they crave. You can have all of that for free Hunter, you’re welcome. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted June 2 Paid Members Posted June 2 Videos coming out of Bron Breakker limping after Raw. Yet another injury? “The Vision,” in WWE quickly becoming PJ from Byker Grove after a cheeky game of Paintball. You wonder at what point Paul Heyman is going to suggest taking a huge, crazy bump from Oba Femi, just to avoid having to manage Austin Theory exclusively. Injure yourself, Paul! It’s the only way to escape the Rybaxel Curse! Quote
NeverYield Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Gable coming to the aid of Mysterio after Rusev ripped his mask off was quality, I'm enjoying the direction he's going in at the moment. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted June 8 Posted June 8 And his old music too! Love what they're doing with Gable at the moment. Guy deserves a proper push. Oba insanely over again and pairing him with Dom is fun. Rey/Penta was great and really could've been at a bigger show. Paris was so good they even made noise for Ricky! Seth lost. What a shame. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted June 8 Paid Members Posted June 8 Interesting watching this show and having it all but confirmed they see and discuss the exact same stuff that we do. I wonder what Triple H’s burner account is on here. Bet it’s that lad who won’t shut up about modern wrestling being rubbish. They’re definitely talking backstage about Sol Ruca’s dreadful success ratio hitting this finisher on the main roster, which is why they cut so hard to this angle on the moment of impact. It was only once they got the all clear that she connected successfully and no-one looked like an idiot that they aired the other angles in replay. Well played. Well played. Similarly, you can tell they’re definitely taking the piss out of Ricky Saints for getting the Zelina Vega non-pop when his match hits, which is why they cut away to the Summerslam advert and only came back to the arena once he was already half way down the aisle. Fair play. Fair play. And most importantly, everyone has definitely came to the same conclusion; that Seth Rollins is an absolute whopper who shouldn’t be anywhere near the main event scene, which is why he lost on this show. Back to feuding with Austin Theory, where you belong. Good riddance. Good riddance. Combine all these precautions with a white hot European crowd and a King of the Ring tournament that practically forced them to book meaningful results for a change, and you end up with one of the better Raws of the year. Almost felt like 2023 all over again. Everything went their way. Even LA Knight failing to catch the microphone was turned into a Rock-style bit, where he styled it out, made the announcer throw it again and then caught it in the coolest fashion possible. Fuckin’ A. Great little showcase match between Mysterio and Penta. You’d hope they have a big pay per view match down the line. Shouldn’t be too much of a rush. The way Rey is aging backwards he’s probably got at least another twenty years in him. Chad Gable currently campaigning for them to record TV overseas permanently. Man feels like the biggest star in the company right now. I worry the momentum’s going to die the moment they return to the bored, lifeless crowds in America. Biggest story is obviously how insanely over Oba Femi is*₁, and what a fantastic bit of business Oba Femi vs. Dirty Dom is for next week*₂. Looking at the brackets and who’s left in the tournament, Femi feels like the favourite to win the whole thing and face Roman at Summerslam! Hell yeah! *₃ *₁ He’d be even more over if he hadn’t stupidly lost to Brock. *₂ It’d be an even better bit of business if he was still undefeated and hadn’t stupidly lost to Brock. *₃ Their incessant need to do this Brock trilogy has completely killed my boner before I even got hard. Even if the dream comes true and we get Oba Femi vs. Roman Reigns at Summerslam, I’d bet my life savings on Brock running in to cost Oba the Title, setting up their final match. It’s what they do. Don't forget they'll need to add a doesn't count three way with Roman and Brock for a random PPV match to water it all down even more while trying to repeat the Rock/Austin stare down moment with another less pairing Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted June 9 Awards Moderator Posted June 9 Gable’s always* been massively popular in Europe, I remember Newcastle going nuts for him and American Alpha on the U.K. NXT tour. *always? I don’t know this for sure, I’ve barely watched for years, but let’s say always Quote
DavidB6937 Posted June 9 Posted June 9 There's only so much you can trust the French crowd. Baron Corbin would've got an even bigger pop with the run in. Quote
The King of Old School Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Really surprised that they havn't had Seth win it to set up Seth/Roman at Summerslam, although have a feeling that's the direction they end up taking anyway. Is Raw back in the US next week? If so can see Brock costing Oba and Dom winning by count out or something. Jey Uso to win the thing and face Cody at Summerslam. Quote

It was a hot period for NXT and there was so much hope for that team. Quote
