Clips of the Roman promo landed on my timeline this morning and, honestly, watching it back, it’s even more of a mogging than I remembered!

In addressing Seth - now a babyface Title contender remember - Roman starts listing all the cowardly acts his character did as a weasel heel last year, completely undermining him.

”You only won the title by faking an injury and then cashing in Money in the Bank.”

Brutal! Surely there’s an unwritten rule that when someone turns babyface you at least attempt to frame all references to their past actions in a positive light? You avoid mentioning the most heelish acts that make them look like a dickhead? Not for Big Rome. He’s playing Dick-Swinging-Chess whilst everyone else is playing I’ll-Take-a-Pay-Cut-Checkers.

Seth agreeing to this promo might be the most I’ve ever lost respect for him, and that’s saying something.

This what a Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns promo looks like in 2026. Roman changing the rules and taking the piss wherever he fancies.

It's the Bloodline stuff all over though. Is Roman a face? Heel? Is anyone else? No idea. He's still a complete self-serving dick, controlling the rest of his family who seem to be running around fighting anyone and everyone. But there's just enough to keep people cheering him. He doesn't really play it like a heel now.

Season 4 of Unreal, with Abyss asking Triple H how they plan on addressing the massive elephant in the room, with all these pesky fans refusing to have fun and rightly questioning why Oba Femi even won the King of the Ring if he was just going to abandon the Title shot like an idiot.

”Script Oba to say he gave it up because he knew Brock would cost him the match, anyway.”

Dreadful. Man’s supposed to be the unstoppable monster! He shouldn’t give a fuck who interferes! Imagine Goldberg saying, “actually, I don’t want to fight Hogan for the belt. I reckon the nWo might run in.”

If Unreal has told us anything - outside of how much they all swear backstage - it’s that self-destructive attitude they have when it comes to ‘keeping the fans guessing’. And what would surprise them more than to see the winner of a title match at the biggest show of the year give it up, for a meaningless match against Brock Lesnar?

Surely having him win the belt, then go on to wrestle the only person who has managed to beat him on the main roster at a later date would make more sense and be a bigger match? Instead they’ve ended up with a card that feels very ill-thought out and haphazard.

They’re their own worst enemy. They had a blockbuster match on a plate, and squandered it for no apparent reason or benefit.

Watched a compliation of WWE surprise returns last night as I drifted off to sleep. It was very fun but, holy fuck, have the same people returned to surprise us a million times at this point. Hogan, Austin, Vince, Rock, Taker, Lesnar, Reigns, Cena, DX, nWo. All retired or part-time for so long now that they just return over and over while Michael Cole has an orgasm.  Those and the usual batch of legends, Diabiase, Duggan, Rotunda, Tatanka, etc. Plus Ron Simmons saying "DAMN".

I reckon Simmons has said "DAMN" and Austin has stunnered Vince more times in surprise appearances than they did while working full-time at this point.

This was my favourite "legends" appearance. Something to do with Sami Zayn - who had his head shaved - and Rey Mysterio. Rob Van Dam comes out to stop Sami running away and then... Sgt Slaughter. By the end, you've got these four all just filling the role of nostalgia act. Strange bedfellows or what?

it's something I thought when Triple H took over, that one way to stamp his mark as being different from the old boss would be to have some surprise appearances in his first Rumble that weren't the same old faces, pull out some deep cuts in terms of legends and nostalgia acts, not just Hurricane and Road Dogg again. But from what I've seen, I think nostalgia acts in the Rumble are a thing of the past, and the "surprises" are all NXT and TNA cameos now - for all Triple H talks about wanting the fans to "just have fun", he seems to have a pretty joyless approach to these things. "Legend" appearances in general in WWE seem to be reduced to standing around waving from the front row.

It's one of the things I really appreciate AEW for, especially in the early days, that you got the Rock N Roll Express, Baron Von Raschke, Tully Blanchard and so on showing up, and even the upcoming PPV is going to honour the Rougeaus; having somewhere other than WWE means not constantly pulling from that same pool of old-timers and not having one company setting the agenda for what wrestling history is and who the "legends" are.

Yeah I noticed that myself. He's done away with the surprise returns. And all we get is dull NXT no marks and TNA wrestlers who have zero business being in a WWE or AEW ring. Its so joyless. Not every old boy is Kurt who can barely move his head. Nostalgia isn't bad, its just when its all the time! Now its the other way.

Quite impressive that a couple of weeks out from Summerslam they managed to put on one of the worst Raw shows in years.

More promotion for SNME and Fanatics than anything else. Multiple Roman/Seth videos. Somehow multiple Danhausen/Judgement Day/Joe Hendry segments and matches on the same show. Messy Bloodline stuff.

Oh well. Made it quicker to watch before work anyway. But yeah, felt like one of those shows they'd put on if there was a snow storm and everyone got stuck elsewhere or something.

Hey, we can't have any of those pesky wrestling matches getting in the way of the adverts and promo packages.

I don't mind ones that logically build future stuff (although I don't need THAT many Roman/Seth ones) but the never ending Fanatics stuff and everything is exhausting.

But I suppose it's their way of showing everyone having FUN!

It's the fact it's all the time too.

I could just about swallow it if the ads were all over the TV and the PLE's were as free but they are even worse.

No wonder there are only 4 matches on big events now. There's 20 minutes of ads and promo packages between each one they don't have time for any more matches.

Building Roman vs. Seth around the idea that Seth can’t compete with the numbers game of Bloodline 2000, and might need Solo’s help to even the odds.

Why doesn’t Seth bring back the Body Poppin’ Ninjas? There was a loads of them! More than enough to even the odds! Dance all over ‘em!

Did they turn Roman already?? I’m not watching at the minute and this reads dumb as fuck for two babyfaces fighting.
