Really looking forward to this. Denis Menochet is an amazing actor. He was in a film a few years ago called Custody that I highly recommend.

I'll add that to the list. I didn't think I'd seen him in anything before, but apparently he was in 'Only The Animals' which is a twisty French thriller. According to Letterboxd I enjoyed it but don't remember anything else at all about it so might have to give that a re-watch too.

Disney are bad blah blah yes I know. But this is great news (especially as my cinema have already removed it)

So you’re saying Walt had it pulled from your cinema so they could rush it on to their streaming service? Bastards.

I watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent on Amazon. It’s good Nic Cage. If he can churn out the likes of this and Pig every other year or so then I’ll hold out hope for him.

Infinity Pool (cinema)

Not bad. I'm surprised Brandon Cronenberg has decided to stick so closely to his dad's style and themes because he knows he will always be unfairly compared to him. But I enjoyed this even if it's heavy-handed at times. Mia Goth is just terrific.

Boston Strangler

Completely unnecessary version of the events surrounding said serial killer, trying to position it from the POV of the two female journalists who investigated his crimes. Never really knows what it wants to be, completely derivative of every journalism thriller you've ever seen. Just watch the 1968 film instead, it's far better.

Furies (Netflix)

Decent-ish follow-up to the really good Furie. Has almost no connection to the original although Veronica Ngo (<3) is in it again and also directs. Has at least two truly horrible scenes in it though that might understandably put people off, so be wary.

A Quiet Place - both films

Gave these a rewatch and they're really good, aren't they? A really strong case for the existence of accessible 90 minute entertainment. Placing the kids as the central characters of the second one was a great decision from Krasinski, who has surprised me with how good he is at this.

Torque

Thinks it's as good as 2 Fast 2 Furious but no dice, bruh. Monet Mazur though.

Malice

Amusingly trashy and occasionally nonsensical 90s thriller, entirely typical of the decade with how horny and wrong-headed it is at times. Naturally I had a great time with it. Completely bizarre cast though.

The Talk of the Town (1942)

Cary Grant escapes from custody and hides out at Jean Arthur's house, which she's renting out to law expert Ronald Colman. Expected this to be a love triangle screwball comedy but it's a bit deeper and smarter than that. And still very funny - and wonderful, one of the best films I've watched this year. I love Jean Arthur.

Drop Dead Gorgeous

Was never even on my radar before, and now I have no idea why not. One of the funniest films I've seen in years, absolutely note-perfect satire that made me laugh out loud way more than I was expecting.  A few things that haven't aged well, but for the most part just brilliantly observed and every performance is spot-on.

I was the same, only saw it recently! Think I watched it the night before Romy And Michelle’s High School Reunion and cursed myself for waiting decades to see them both.

Worst? Well I'd always heard Speed 2 was dreadful, but I didn't realise just how much. Not even 1997 peak Sandra Bullock could save it. Just an awful hate crime of a film.

Zoolander 2 was a low point in my life as well. Bride Wars too. Don't judge me.

I think you've watched The Edge of Seventeen more than me and @Frankie Crisp have watched Rogue Nation.

(Understandable, it's awesome.)

Watched it again with my eldest last night (her second, maybe third time?)

It's a massive comfort film for me, and she loves it too. Genuinely adore it.

The trailer for Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret has been doing the rounds so hopefully it'll be out soon, can't wait.

Mrs Loki and I just watched this on your recommendation.  Well, that was dark!  Really funny though.
