What you’re saying would be valid if they offered her a shit wage but they gave her a generous offer above industry standard And my point is if the industry standard is garbage, I hope more people do what they can to raise that industry standard. For example, being offered two pounds over the minimum wage would be considered higher than industry standards in some markets, it would be considered “Generous”, but in real terms it’s still a pittance. And when people bind together and use collective bargaining, they can get results and raise that industry standard. 9 minutes ago, FelatioLips said: She didn’t “shine a light” on anything She did. Loads of people didn’t know how little VAs are paid given the magnitude of the projects. 13 minutes ago, FelatioLips said: I feel like you’re just looking for an argument where there isn’t one to be made because you’ve already made up your mind about the industry. The argument is the treatment of workers by bosses, it’s one that’s totally consistent with how I post on here. I could be glib and say you’ve already made your mind up because you like the games. I have a few mates in the industry and hearing their horror stories of conditions is what made my mind up about the industry. It’s on the whole totally dismissive of workers rights. You mentioned wrestling and how marks will still buy it. To carry on the analogy, game developers are like the wrestlers who absolutely love what they do but not so much the conditions, the hours, the treatment etc. but because they love their craft, that gets mercilessly exploited. Didn’t one of the makers model the character on his idea of the perfect sexy woman or something like that? Or am I thinking of a different weird Japanese bloke? Quote

Merzbow Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Yeah Kamiya did, he's infamously horny on main, too. The lad who did the soundtrack to Jet Set Radio is a better Twitter follow though, although, I'm 99% sure he's a chaser. Quote

Merzbow Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Snowrunner now has a farming mode! I love the driving mechanics of these games, yeah it's clunky and will piss you off but it's meant to, you're driving huge fuck off trucks, tractors and everything in-between across mud, lots of mud. Quote

Vampire Survivors is addictive as hell, I’d definitely recommend that. Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit - which you can add as a non-Steam game - is also great. Weird West is a brilliant RPG by the some of the people behind Prey, and Reventure is a unique little game available for not much at all. Dishonoured is only £1.99 right now and plays great, and the first three Yakuza games, along with Like a Dragon play really well. Curse of Monkey Island is down as unsupported, but it works with no issues. Crystal Project is like an open world 2D Final Fantasy game. It’s cheap, and amazingly given its quality, was only made by one guy. I recommend Omori to everyone, it tackles some dark themes (in spite of its cutesy look), but if you’re in the right headspace for it, it’s an outstanding, unique game. I hope this helps, but if there’s anything specific you’re looking for genre wise, just let me know and I’ll do my best to make a few recommendations. Quote
Guest Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 The only drawback, from what I've observed elsewhere, is that you're no longer allowed to just talk about the games you're playing. You're now legally obliged to tell everyone you're playing them on your Steam Deck, every time. Quote

I think it’s easy to get into the habit of that based on the fact that not every game does work well on the system, so it becomes fairly helpful to see what games people have been playing, and the issues they face (eg. Weird West worked brilliantly for me until the final cut scene, which glitched pretty badly) I can see why that would grate, though! Quote
Paid Members Tommy! Posted October 22, 2022 Paid Members Posted October 22, 2022 I've just finished the first day in disco elysium (not on steam deck) and the story has really pulled me in. I'm also really looking forward to a second play through already to try things in a different order and with a different mix of stats, which isn't normally something I'd do let alone look forward to. Vamp Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 To be fair steamboat decks never seemed like an ideal place to play video games. I genuinely don't know what a steam deck is. Since I'm guessing it's just a shite PC I'm just gonna pretend it's a steamboat deck. Quote

As someone who knows absolutely nothing about this kind of stuff, how's the pricing on games for it? Quote

If it’s using the Steam Store on it, which I’d assume it is, it’ll likely be very decent. They have regular sales, which are really good. Quote
Merzbow Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Then there's also cheap as fuck bundles of Steam games from places like Fanatical and Humble Bundle, I'm pretty sure you can even run Game Pass on it although those titles won't be as optimised but many should still work fine. Quote
