A bit kinder on the palette than Snyder's and with a more 'bready' flavour. The bag disappeared fairly quickly, mostly because my daughter was nicking them as well, which she doesn't do with Snyder's.

You may have read me waxing lyrical about the joy of crispy nuts from Beskidzkie (who make the best and most frequently spotted paluszki in all the Polish shops). Fianceé raid went in tonight and spotted that the 80g bag has shot up in price to £1.49 so took a punt on these at £2 for a 200g bag ; Despite an unappealing pale colour (like the ghost of nutses past) and lack of visible flavour dust, they were incredibly moorish. Recommended if you like crispy nuts and sour cream Pringles, they apparently also come in onion, paprika, wasabi, barbecue and cheese n onion. In stark contrast to the sour cream, the colour was delightful but at first the taste seemed lacking but the more I ate the better they got. Nice, but I'd say only pick them up if you're not close to a source of KP Flavour Kravers (sic) in the same flavour, or since you're in the Polish shop already, look for the Beskidzkie ones even if they are nearly double the price (7/8 more expensive per nut, to be exact).
Paid Members air_raid Posted June 8, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 8, 2024 This comparison finally happened last weekend when a trip to White City retail park saw a chance to peruse an Aldi and one of the “Poundscratcher” shops as she calls them (Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M… same shit). At first comparison, the Aldi ones were a clear winner even disregarding the .68p per gram cost compared to .88p with a better defined flavour (mustard especially) than the Crackzels which when tasted second, only really tasted like sugar and salt. At home we did a second test and the Crackzel flavour stood up better when tasted first though the Aldi ones didn’t suffer the same dulling of flavour when tasted second. Even though they are cheaper and we agreed actually taste better, the raidette says we’re going to stick with Crackzels because they’re less brittle and she’s not keen on having to bite too hard, probably because she has a dentist phobia. Though I think part of it is that we’re in Poundscratchers for other items all the time, and she can’t be bothered making a separate trip into Aldi which she seems to have an as yet unexplained dislike for. We also however did try their pretzel thins in salted (which she loved but were a bit boring for me) and honey, mustard and onion - which I liked but the onion note is fairly strong so you have to like it, and she wasn’t keen. Fellow Salfordians can make a comparison of their own at the Aldi and Poundland at the grubby precinct (sorry… “Salford Shopping City”) and I believe the Aldi stores at Trafford retail park (where Pets At Home is, on the way to Urmston) and the Arndale also have a Poundscratcher nearby that will carry Crackzels.

Paid Members air_raid Posted June 9, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 9, 2024 (edited) Follow up on nuts : found Beskidzkie in a different shop for 79p for the 70g pack so it’s worth shopping around, they’re the better choice than Jėga at £2 for 200g in the Paprika flavour, at least. Finally got round to trying Budweiser crispy nuts now they’re showing up cheaper in Poundscratcher than full price in Iceland ; I believe we paid £1.25 per bag. Chunky nuts and good crunch, Texan BBQ are really nice, “BBQ sauce” type rather than Beskidzkie where the BBQ flavour is meaty and very similar to Flame Grilled Steak in KP (which in turn is identical to the McCoys flavour). Buffalo Chicken Wings is a great mix of meat, heat and citrus. Looking forward to trying the Sweet Chilli. Finally… …. anyone that can tell me the difference between these and Wotsits Crunchy in the same colour bag, let me know. Nik Nak clones both. But well received. Confirmed, M&S thins suffer the same. Great onion flavour but not really honey mustard. Sweet fans rejoice ; Tesco (ours at least) is selling 7Days filled croissants for 35p in the Polish bit. Bought plenty of chocolate, cocoa & vanilla and I LOVE the “spumante” flavour…. Um, lost in translation? It’s custardy with a hint of alcohol not unlike advocaat.
