Merzbow Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 Maxibon were class, they had that similar chewy biscuit texture to the Oreo sandwich. Apparently in the States there was a Krispy Kreme collab which I'm gutted we never got to try here.

Same with Spira, Nestle Maverick and the Liaison/Marble bars from Galaxy and Cadbury. Just taking away the good shit.
deathrey Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 Spira was a great chocolate bar. I only ever had a Secret bar once growing up (because they were expensive), I thought it was amazing and then they were discontinued, I'd love to try one again as an adult.

I‘m similar - I was very, very young when Secret was a thing, and while I remember trying them and thinking they were spectacular, I don’t at all remember what they tasted like. I’d love to see them make a comeback. The same goes for Nestle Double Cream chocolate bars, when we’re on the subject of forgotten chocolates - they were so much better than Dairy Milk, but the brand never really took off.

Nah, Galaxy is separate - they were around at the same time. Double Cream was (as the name suggests) a very creamy chocolate bar, but Galaxy is much sweeter. They discontinued them as they never really took off. They tried changing the recipe at one point to see if that worked, but the new version wasn’t anywhere near as good as the original.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted August 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 8, 2025 I generally prefer Galaxy to Dairy Milk, but it is contextual - Dairy Milk has a "rougher" edge, which sometimes I prefer. I remember Marble - basically a praline bar. Really liked them. And I've mentioned these many times, because they were fuggin' ace, but Riva were the best chocolate wafer bar ever - nearest you get is Tunnock's Wafer Creams. Viva Riva.

I can't stand Dairy Milk, the chocolate is so dry and chalky. It would literally be my last pick of chocolate. In fact, I'm more likely to skip than have a Dairy Milk

In fact, I'm more likely to skip than have a Dairy Milk Used to hate Blue Riband - they were the choice of many an elderly Yorkshire auntie we'd visit; bless them, they clearly understood part of the brief - there are kids coming round, they'll want chocolate - but simply made the wrong choice and bought these dry, completely unsatisfying blocks of barely-coated cardboard that you had to have with tea just to rehydrate your mouth with. At some point, though, they changed the recipe, and they're so much nicer now. Vastly superior.
Chili Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 I like Blue Riband because you can eat them lid first, then around the sides and then just have waver, much like how a KitKat should be savoured. I saw a bloke in Holland once open a four finger KitKat and just bite into it without separating the fingers. Absolute public danger.

Discustin It's because Nestle chocolate is low quality shit and needs all the bells and whistles to taste good. A Yorkie is just straight up Nestle chocolate with no bells and whistles, like the green blocks in Quality Streets. Just rubbish.
