Paid Members Wretch Posted January 24, 2020 Paid Members Posted January 24, 2020 Just down the road from me. When I was working nights, I'd pass by it on the way to work at about 9.30pm and it was constantly rammed, Mon to Fri. It's more of a restaurant though, I'm sure that disqualifies it from being a proper chipper. I'm down that way on Monday afternoon, I'll pop in to see what all the fuss is about if it's not too busy. Session = drinking session Session moth = someone who's attracted to session's like a moth is to a flame Hence "Session Moth", Martina is just a stereotypically chavvy name like Stacey or Chanel. Paid Members Wretch Posted January 26, 2020 Paid Members Posted January 26, 2020 (edited) Moth is also slang in Ireland (well, in Dublin at least), used in place of girlfriend/bird/the missus etc. Always thought that had something to do with her name. Edited January 26, 2020 by Wretch Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 27, 2020 Paid Members Posted January 27, 2020 Yeah, I initially assumed the "moth to flame" metaphor, but every Irish wrestling fan I know has said it's the other meaning. She's billed as "from the inner city flats, Dublin", so if it's Dublin slang, that makes sense. She (and others) have said plenty of times that it was basically a local-centric comedy act that nobody ever expected to get over outside of Ireland, hence the name. Quote

Sounds fucking abhorrent for a chippy to be honest. Quote
