It's fine if you don't like it, but to call it paint by numbers is just stupid.

It does hit so many of the cliches though. "Kooky" female lead and shy, quiet male lead, eho she slowly gets to break out of his shell. Nonlinear narrative, which has a become an overused storytelling mechanic. There is a reason these have become tropes of these big budget indies.

Clementine is not a manic dream pixie girl as you seem to be saying, but yes a lot of indie films seem to have based characters on her but only from the first third or so of the movie while completely ignoring that in fact she's the complete opposite when you see her true self.

It's kinda funny that term is based off of Kirsten Dunst in Elizabethtown, and wasn't a thing when Spotless came out.

Coke doesn’t taste like Coke anymore, not since the sugar tax.

I think it is different, but it's subtle.

It seems to be that Coke are trying to torpedo their chief product for the sake of getting people to like the diet / zero range - the smaller tin sizes, the machines that won't give you extra flavours for the classic product and the similar effect in shops - I haven't seen classic coke with vanilla in shops since the tax came in effect.

I know we're all supposed to mourn that chocolate bars have shrunk and Wagon Wheels aren't the size of the moon and shit now but Mars being smaller is also a very good thing.

The price certainly hasn't gotten any smaller.

"We haven't doubled the price, we've halved the cup."

Wrong, Ronnie Barker. We're doing both.
