Paid Members PunkStep Posted March 11, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted March 11, 2019 What he does between now and the end of the season will mean fuck all though. Apparently he wants greater responsibility regarding player recruitment this time around, which is something he wanted (and didn't get) before leaving last time. In that case, next season will be all on him. He has to really get it right in the summer, the club has a HUGE Ronaldo-shaped hole at the club and a number of players have perhaps seen their best days (Benzema, possibly Modric) or may no longer be wanted at the club (Kroos, Bale). Vinicius has done ok so far this season, but you look at Barca - who have a much better and more sustainable squad as it is - and they've already signed De Jong for next season. Real have to do a lot to catch up with Atletico next season, let alone Barca.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted March 11, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted March 11, 2019 (edited) It will be interesting to see what Real do next season. They'll definitely need to offload quite a few players to make the sort of changes they need. The stories are, despite silly revenues due to their Champions League wins, they spend a fortune not only on wages but bonuses that come with success, which has gobbled up quite a bit of their record revenues, according to the club. For example, if they didn't sell Ronaldo they apparently would have been looking at a 87M loss rather than a profit, which is mental considering their revenue. Also, Perez is also spending a chunk of change redeveloping the Bernabeu, which is way behind schedule and won't be finished until at least 2024. If they can't offload some of their high earners then it could be a bit tricky for Zizou. He was clearly aware the club needed significant investment to maintain their competitive levels, but the club weren't having it. The folk that have a clue about these things reckon they simply don't have the coin to throw 120M+ at players unless they sell or agree on some £5 a year deal. Maybe they'll take out some funky loan, should they fail to offload. Just gutted Jose wasn't the one given the task of competing with all this going on. Imagine. AdamTH17
Brilliant game between Ajax and Juventus. This Ajax squad doesn't half echo the Monaco squad of a few years back that knocked out City when they had the likes of Mbappe, Lemar, Silva, Bakayoko (when he was good) and Fabinho in the sense of them having some really exciting, young attackers with an evident spine running through their team. Would love to see them in the finals. Talk about bias commentary as well, fucking hell. Kicking off at everything that went against the way of Juventus. Slagged off Neres for going down too easily in the 90th minute. Whinged about the amount of injury time. Constantly jumping onto Ajax's squad for not being mature enough every time they gave the ball away. Became incredibly tiring to listen to. SuperBacon
Dunno what feed it was from as watching on Bleacher Report TV (????), but if it was Jonathan Pearce and I think Trevor Francis, then yeah they were both absolute cocks.
Paid Members PunkStep Posted April 16, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted April 16, 2019 Good, fuck Juve. Well, more specifically fuck CR7. Get in Ajax, pleased for them. They're such an exciting relatively young side, it's a shame they're going to be raided before long- much like the '95 Champions League winning side were. Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted April 16, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted April 16, 2019 I think its best to sum up Ajax when their most composed defender and captain is just 19 years of age. Its a bloody exciting time, with a trip to the final they could hold onto a fair few of their players too, especially with the Barcelona money arriving in the summer for De Jong tidying up their bank account.
Paid Members Murtz Posted April 17, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted April 17, 2019 Dont think I've ever seen a game like that. Just stunning. The sound just being sucked out of the stadium at the end was surreal/brilliant. No quad. Imagine if it just ends up being the league cup. Moderators PowerButchi Posted April 17, 2019 Moderators Share Posted April 17, 2019 VAR really needs polishing. Lloris wrist made contact for me looking at the movement of his forearm muscles. The offside decision was spot on.  It has a shit load to learn from Rugby Union and the world's finest game

Paid Members PunkStep Posted April 17, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted April 17, 2019 Ajax just beat two of the strongest teams in Champions League in recent years. They're totally losing to these bunch of pricks now aren't they?

Pep far too conservative trying to be clever when they should have gone for it more in the first leg as even one goal scored may have made the difference tonight. Great game though.
