The wife attends a "religious" gathering (cult) during the summer in the Bedford area. I go along to ensure there is nothing daft happening. Which has been confirmed. Just a lot of people going to have a picnic and listen to common sense man. I can see me skiving off and going to Universal. Anyone know how long Universal will take to build?

I mean at this point the key part is:

Quote

A Universal spokesperson said: 'We recently acquired land in Bedford and are at the early stages of exploring its feasibility for a potential park and resort at this site.

'It will be many months before we are ready to make a decision to proceed and we look forward to engaging with all relevant stakeholders and the local community.'

So we're nowhere near asking when the park will be ready. The park hasn't even been confirmed to be in planning stages yet.

This is hugely in-depth, 4 hours long. But it’s one of the best looks at Disney’s failed Star Wars hotel LARP experience. Even if you don’t think this is your kind of thing it’s worth watching.

I watched it in parts, and it’s in chapters so easy to come back to, but it’s genuinely great and has now had 5m people watch it in a week!

Universal have confirmed plans to build a park in Bedford, UK!

This is great news, knowing how awesome they have it in Florida, so very excited for this.

It'll never happen. There was the theme park with the BBC licensed stuff that never happened and before that the theme park that was meant to be built in Uxbridge.

I mean I have zero interest in either Star Wars or theme parks but it's Jenny.. she's excellent at this types of videos.

I think it will convert even people with the same feelings on the subject matter.

Except this one has the backing of the local people, local government, UK government overall have outright said they’d be happy should a brand as huge as Universal want to open here.

That, the release of concept art, and the fact they have acquired the land, have already applied for planning permission, which is due to be granted June 2024, all in the space of around 8 months.

They’ve also had local meetings with local people, wanting to know further information, and still the general consensus is strongly positive.

I’d say things are looking extremely strong, rather than “it’ll never happen”.

Even with that in their favour there is still an awful amount of red tape and planning permission before they could even break ground. Plus they still have people living on the site currently. It’s more likely then some other aborted attempts but it’s got a while to go.

I've been splitting this over the last couple of days. Never heard of Jenny Nicholson before but this is really interesting and she's really funny and likeable. My main takeaway from that video is the whole hotel experience looks lame and cringey as fuck. When it was launched I wanted to go straightaway, feels like a lot of people will have dodged a bullet. Is there any talk of them reusing the hotel? Like, keep it as a hotel but a regular hotel with characters walking around, none of the weird choose your own adventure stuff and free access in to Galaxys Edge.
