I don’t think so. It was essentially a tax write off meaning it’s unlikely to be repurposed for consumer use. Eventually it will probably be pulled down, they should use it as an expansion pad, but it will probably just revert to parking, at a guess.

No, it wasn't built with any "proper" hotel facilities, e.g. a pool, and it's not in the sort of location you'd want to stay in as a regular hotel.  It's a warehouse in a car park with no windows.

The most plausible reuse scenario before it was written off was as a dinner show location.

And in hindsight would have been a better use of space and money had they gone that route. Especially as they love themed dining experiences and Star Wars as a brand has nothing of the sort. Neither does Marvel unless you cound the one in Islands of Adventure which means 1) They probably couldn't do one as well. and 2. They couldn't use the main characters because of the IOA contract.

Have any of you been to Phantasialand?

I’m currently on a pre-arranged itinerary with a company called Coaster Breaks (recommend), and we went to Phantasialand.

I’ve been to a fair few theme parks in my time but this has easily taken the lead as the best park I’ve ever been to.

The theming is like a work of art, and so many great rides, both coasters and flat rides!

Germany is supposed to have a number of cool theme parks, including Phantasialand. They tried to create a motorsports themed one at the Nurburgring. I don't think they ever finished it.

Never been but I follow quite a few theme park related accounts on Instagram and it always looks incredible any time I see it pop up.

I did a week long trip that went to Walibi Belgium, Walibi Holland, Toverland, Plopsaland, Movie Park Germany, Phantasialand and Efteling.

I cannot recommend Phantasialand, and all the parks really, enough. The theming I’ve seen this week has blown my mind, and each day I work up questioning how I could possibly see something new, or that I hadn’t already seen or done, but each day there was something. Absolutely incredible.

Surprised this thread hasn’t had a revival given the huge news this week.

Universal Great Britain confirmed to be going ahead.

The land they’ve purchased, and concept art they’ve released shows there’s some real big plans in the future for potential expansion.

Bedford isn’t far from me, and hugely easy to get to for many, so will be a great location. Especially with the budget behind it that Universal will throw its way. 

Might also be the kick up the ass Merlin need to implement some much needed investment to it’s properties in advance of 2031.

I’m in the I’ll believe it when I see it camp.  There was the massive Paramount theme park in London that fell flat on its arse, and the enormous indoor water park near the Trafford Centre in Manchester that’s just growing grass after the land was cleared.  It would be nice, and the employment possibilities for the area are amazing, but I’m not convinced.

I think they’re already further along than Paramount Park ever got. The purchase of land, and the government approval, as well as the transport expansions in the area, are all being put in place in readiness for opening.

This is in no way similar to Paramount Park I don’t think, but I understand the hesitancy to get excited.

The Paramount Park or London Project was a press release with a few agreements in place. This has been consulted with local residents, land purchased, planned and now approved from the government, openly with a presentation with the PM. That tells me they are serious and it’s going to happen, but of course that doesn’t mean it’s 100% because who knows if a rare species of newt is discovered on the land. I think Kier will do everything he can to get it going because it’s the kind of thing to use during the next election as a big positive, but I think there’s a much much bigger chance of this compared to Paramount or when Disney and Universal almost came here to open a park on Rainham marshes in the late 80’s.

Hoping to utilise all of the experience in this thread to help me plot out a couple of days at Disneyland at the end of May.

Context is a family trip to Paris (two kids - one 10 and the other 6) with two days at Disneyland at the end, and I'm essentially trying to plan out an itinerary that covers most of the key bases, but finding it fairly overwhelming with all of the options available.

A pretty vague brief I know, but I refuse to use AI (for this or anything) when the UKFF has it down to a fine art.
