Yeah I believe the last one closed around the same time Demolition Man was released where they announced it had won the franchise war. We had Taco Bell, Wendy's, Quiznos, Sbarro, all gone by 2000. Taco Bell relaunched I think in 2010 or 11

True story. My parents got divorced in Sbarro on Hounslow High Street. Can't remember what sparked it (shit choice of place presumably) but that's where it happened.

Quiznos was still around by 2000 - I was in my first year at university, and there was one in that mini shopping arcade on Oxford Street, and one in the shopping mall near where I live, in Wood Green. I always like Quiznos, could never understand why they weren't more popular.

I remember that one, had one in Lakeside as well. I think that was their second attempt which lasted a good few years but believe all gone now

That Quiznos was definitely still there in Wood Green in 2005, but no idea after that. Presuming it's long gone now?

Shows how long it's been since I was in Shopping City. Is Aroma still there?

I’m just trying to work out the concept of a tramp having a home/Breville.

It was a multi-Occupation type of place.  He might have found the grevillea in another bin.

No, long gone. There's a Five Guys now, though!

Bloody hell! That's pretty good for Wood Green, although I'd heard rumblings about it going a bit upmarket and hipster, so I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised. In my mind Wood Green will always be the land of Wimpy and Mr Bagel.

They had a Sbarro at Birmingham New Street until the mass redevelopment started so around 2010/11.

Was Blimpie a US thing? They tried to enter UK market around 2002 before Subway, and failed massively.

Ps deffo on the Whopper side of the Five Guys debate, whole bunch of meh.

I'm sure there's still a Quizno's in Aldgate East, near Brick Lane

Closed down a few months ago. There was also one in the main centre in Bromley which must have closed around the same time.

I was struggling to remember a time when I had felt as underwhelmed by something so seemingly popular.

Nando's. The ultimate meal of looking quizzically at the queue snaking round the block for a very ordinary meal.

Oh and you're completely wrong about Five Guys.
