91/92 is where we get WWF, WCW and Prince of Thieves figures. Good times

The Transformers spread from 85/86 is amazing to me! Well, except for rubbish Twin Twist.

The first big Transformer I was allowed to buy was Starscream. I got him from Argos. Although he isn't in any of these particular catalogues, I remember it distinctly (he cost £7.49!) because when I showed him to my grandmother afterwards, I proudly declared that I knew what colour he was: the catalogues had given me the impression that there was a colour called 'may vary', which I'd taken to be a shade of grey and felt very clever about knowing. She was a lot older than I was and she'd never heard of it!

That's odd - I thought Twin Twist was one of two Jump-Starter Autobots? Could've sworn there was a red one as well. I know the Decepticon versions were Runamok and Runabout.

He was one of two, although you're wrong about the colours: Topspin was similar to Twin Twist but with inverted colours:

Runamuck :) He and Runabout were Battlechargers. I really hated them and the Jumpstarters for their shit transformations.

Those catalogues don't have full ranges in. Note only two Dinobots (Grimlock and Snarl), one Seeker (Skywarp), one Conehead (Thrust), one Triple Changer (Blitzwing), etc. The range in 1985 was a lot bigger than they've got on display.

Hah! There it is, thanks for that. Yeh, the Jumpstarters and Battlechargers weren't much cop at all. At least the Battlechargers looked like cars, but fuck knows what the Jumpstarters were supposed to be. The adverts and promo lit all said they were cars, but even my impressionable mind just wouldn't accept that explanation.

Twin Twist was supposed to be a drill. One of those magic drills that can bore tunnels far wider than the drill bits so that the rest of him could pass through.

Unpopular opinion time, but even when I was a kid I thought toys were rubbish.

What was your choice of recreation? Sports, books?

Jumpstarters suffered from one of my biggest pet peeves with Transformers (and for which Robo-Machines were particularly guilty) in that you could still see the robot face when in vehicle mode. The lack of any attempt to fold away or conceal the arms added to the annoyance.

I was a bit of a strange kid. I spent around 50% of my time with my head in a book and the other 50% out on my bike making dens.

Sounds great to me. I was more 50% books, 45% toys, 5% other (bikes, badminton, pool, and Quasar mostly).

Same as, i can never remember playing with toys as such. I played things like connect four and card games, board games but never with transformers, figures or shit like that. I was most of the time. I was very feral.
