Foley is Crud

I loved Foley in his prime. Up until 2004, I did not have much bad to say about him as a performer. If someone asked me to watch the best of Mick Foley or the best of Shawn Michaels, I would pick the best of Foley personally (I am talking about promos, angles and matches, the full package)

But as a person, my opinion of him as slowly declined over the years. It seems by this thread, I am not alone.

Those stories from Herbie of are not surprising. I met him in 2005 at the old ECUK store. A friend of mine paid for a photo with him, the photo shows my friend with a cheesy grin on his face, whilst Foley in the photograph looks about as happy as Victor Meldrew, if I recall right he did not even lift his thumb up. My friend showed the photo to people he knew and their response was "what did you do to upset him".

His creepiness with divas, his victim complex and his "show me the money" attitude have already been explored by many. So I cannot really add anything that has not already been said. Hardcore Diaries I always remember as being the book where I thought to myself "has everyone somehow hurt the feelings of this man". Everyone seems to have unjustly fucked him over somehow over the years.

His daughter is a bloody stunner though, I will give him that.

Air_raid- I can't believe he charged you for his autograph at International Showdown. He never charged me or my mate a penny and we were merely silver ticket holders.

There was a box sat on his table and as the queue approached we were told it was five quid. As I approached and said "Would you mind signing your book for me" he said "I think you're supposed to put five pounds in the box" then looked at the attending staffer who said "he has." When I got down the line to Joe (who was feuding with Foley, in a way, in ROH at the time) he made a joke about going and beating him up and pointed as his box of fivers and said "that's my retirement fund." I remember it like it was yesterday. Perhaps by the time you got to him he was just trusting that everyone was being asked by staff to put their cash in the box, who knows. But he definitely took 5 quid off me. My accomplice that day remembers, he still asks me how angry I was afterwards.

I can vouch for this. He worked Wales Comic Con last year and wouldn't acknowledge people until his assistant confirmed they'd paid. Unless they had a vagina then he was like Adebisi on cialis.

On his physical condition, I know he said on JR's podcast he will need to replace both knees at some point.

I'm all for being tight with the cash when you have a family, but Foley is still a well paid guy yet it seems to never be enough. As someone mentioned, he has a good family life and has a nice sideline in his comedy so unlike a lot of other guys he's in a pretty nice position.

I agree with what someone said about his bump taking, it really is ridiculous when you look back on it. I still like Mick for what he did, and i'll just concentrate on that, rather than the whiney perv that he's become.

I wasn't going to bother giving the full story of what he said to my ex, but since everyone seems to enjoy stories of Foley being a creepy weirdo I might as well. As I was making him sign my sock he looked at her and asked if her cheek peircings had hurt. She's covered in tattoos and has huge stretched ears so that type of question was pretty normal. She gave him her usual reply of "the only thing that really bothered me was my tongue." She'd had it split a while before hand so her tongue was like a snake tongue (if you haven't seen tongue splitting I'd advise not to google it because it's pretty gross.)

His reply was "ouch that must have hurt. I'll be thinking about that tonight." At the time I just thought it was cool my girlfriend had made Foley wince in pain, and didn't really pay attention to the latter. Looking back knowing he really is a creepy old man makes it a bit sour, rather than thinking it was a casual throw away joke

He's some man. The line I've put in bold made me laugh, only in wrestling

I've met Mick a few times and have definitely found him in the mode of that he is more pleasant to you if you're buying his gimmicks and putting money in his pocket, I have had a few nice pleasantries with him though.

First met him on the novel tour back in around 03? This was when I guess he was still fairly popular, He done a short reading and q and a and seemed like the Mick on TV. When it came to the signing though he was pretty unresponsive and did not look up for the picture.

I have attended all of Micks 3 comedy shows. He was always nice enough but never really went that extra mile. I found his routine pretty good, apart from the last time which was the same material.

I also met Mick during Mania weekend last year in New York, I was lucky enough to obtain tickets for the Sandy Relief Party, now pretty much everyone who was there was happy to take pictures and chat to the fans- Cena, Sheamus, Jericho, Even the Mcmahons! I approached Foley and commented that I was a fan of his comedy act and was looking forward to the next comedy show over in the UK and was it possible to get a picture. His reply was that he had to go. He stuck around for another hour! He was the only guy there the whole night who just could not be arsed with the fans. Maybe if he had his gimmick table with him he would of been more pleasant.

I've met Foley twice and didn't think he came across too badly either time. Although, admittedly, I did inadvertently make him a lot of money the first time.

Some show in Newport (which was the shits, to be honest) had booked Foley, Sandman and Shannon Moore. The cheap tickets got you onto the balcony, the higher priced tickets sat you at downstairs and you got to meet Foley and Moore. Sandman, clearly put out he didn't have a gimmick table, was stood in the entrance selling tickets and posing for a photo for

Kinda irrelevant question, but what is Foley doing with the readies?

I'd guess he's getting to the airport and exchanging it for US $, unless of course he's worked out the place with the best exchange rate in whatever city he's in.

But thereafter I presume he's entering the US with the $, and probably not declaring any of it. Sure there's some kind of deminimis whereby you have to declare cash you're carrying, no doubt Foley takes a flyer every time and dives through nothing to declare, whose going to question the hobo.

I remember being backstage at that Skydome show. My first interaction with Foley was a bizarre one. Some of us were in the locker room before the show and suddenly Bill Apter and Mick Foley comes in.

Mick Foley says fuck all and Bill Apter announces: "Who here would like the honour of buying Mick Foley lunch today?"

Mmm.... not a great first impression when meeting one of your heroes.

Did anyone do it? I'd imagine no-one was there that would say "f**k off you c**t" like one of the old school may have done.

I'd worked a few shows with Heidenreich and he mentioned that Tracy Smothers had always been a nice guy. I told him he was due in the UK about a month later, and he asked me to pass on his regards.

Sure enough, introduced myself to Tracy n all that jazz, and mentioned Jon. Throughout he had a glazed look in his eyes, and then said "so do you want to buy some DVD's or masks, I'll give you a good discount".

Think my response was "no man, I'm good for merchandise, thanks for asking".

This is my new favourite story ever.

And then the stand-up show itself was one of the worst things I'd ever seen and made me embarrassed to be a wrestling fan. As opposed to Mick's posts on Facebook which just make me embarrassed for him.

Ooh, more details please, from anyone who was there. I always get the impression they're confusing the art of stand up comedy with An Audience with Dave Courtney.
