Aldi have got the Paulaner and Erdinger Oktoberfest beers in again from today for a short time. They also have regular Spaten, Benediktiner Hell and Benediktiner Weis. There all between £2 to £2.50. I have never had the last two, so looking forward to giving them a try. A heads up my local got cleared out, very quick last year for some of these. Partly by me admittedly. So best be quick if you want a bargain.

 

They didn't have any in stock in mine atm of these but they also have the rather nice sounding Currywurst and Bratwurst special edition crisps in for the range as well. Plus the frankly horrific sounding German Pilsner Beer flavour crisps. Maybe @SuperBacon can take one for the team and try those lol.

I had some very stupid beer tonight at the pinball hall gig and loved it, it's a mixture of fruits supposedly with notes of lime and rhubarb but those two were the most prominent for me. It was a lurid green colour and quite thick, the can even says it glows under UV light!

Siren Craft have released this years Caribbean Chocolate Cake range of stouts. I'm not a huge fan of Siren's stuff in general, but I bloody love the CCC series. I went down my local last night and had a third of the regular one and the Rocky Road one. Both were superb. Packed a punch, nice chocolate taste, but not over-sweet or sickly. They didn't have the Death By CCC on tap this year (which is my favourite) but I bought a can of it to have on Christmas Day after I've finished cooking Christmas Lunch.

I was doing well with my booze today but this absolute beauty has just killed me, for a supermarket beer it's probably the most "refined" tasting thing I've ever had while feeling far more than 8%. I'm usually into the sweeter sours but this is just lovely, the bottom of the can is thick and syrupy but divine.

I would recommend the Pineapple Upside Down Cake sour from Vault City. It's refreshing and has a slight creaminess to that counter balances the sourness.

I finished off Christmas Day with Vault City Double Pump, a caramel biscuit cheesecake imperial stout at 13%. Absolutely gorgeous.

Started with Lunebrew's Caked, a chocolate stout 5% in my local micropub.

Followed that up with Cloudwater's Stollen From Ivor, also 5% with Christmas Dinner. Described as a festive stout.

Then Wilde Child's Clique Fiesta, a Biscoffi milk stout 4.6%.

Brewdog have closed all their bars for the day as the company looks like it’s about to finalise its sale to TilrayBrands, a US-based consumer goods group for £40m. 

Apparenty Brewdog are £239m in debt and are losing £36m a year. 

I’ve never heard of Tilray before but they seem to be a medical marijuana company who branches out to buying a bunch of failing American breweries.

They tried going fully mainstream but your average punter isn't paying extra for a mid IPA and they lost all good will they had with the faithful by being union busting morons at the top, barely ever see anyone still going to bat for them.

My work had a Xmas do at Brewdog in Waterloo. It's absolutely gigantic, tucked away underneath Waterloo station. It must cost an absolute fortune to run, proper twats gaff with a fucking slide for dickheads. I'm only surprised they're not haemorrhaging more money.

Had the night n my old favourite beer from back when I was a young 'un, but isnt sold on tap anywhere near me: Carling Premier! 

Still love the stuff, but it may be rose tinted glasses, but isnt as good as I remember it. I know it's not a "craft" drink or at all trendy, but it was the gateway drink that got me to stop drinking cheap, gassy lagers and try bitters and other drinks!
