It's a nice enough place in a shopping centre that used to be great but now has little going for it bar BD, Primark and a Vue cinema. It wasn't on either the list of bars that are closing or the list of bars that the new company has taken over so I dunno what's gonna happen to it. Be a shame if it does go, it's a huge space to lie empty (again). Quote

I got given an Equity for Punks shares thing for Christmas years ago, which I'm assuming is now worthless. Not wildly bothered, and had I been able to sell them I would have done. but they never allowed me to. I'm sure I got the most amount of the discounts etc as I could in the early years, but it does make it seem like a bit of a grift, which it probably was in the end. Ah well! Quote

Employees told that they were closed Monday and told pretty much via an online meetingb (pretty sure its online) that lasted minutes that bars would shut immediately and not reopen, but the writing was on the wall before the weekend for a lot. Basically anyone with the Punk equity has also lost out completely as far as I'm aware as priority shareholders are the 22% that invested from the US a few years back to see some if any of their investment too. It just got too big for its boots. It had a stable market as a beer brand and instead kept throwing money into a hospitality trade that is closing as rapidly as gig venues are. Plus losing a lot of its good will was putting off the more hardened and passionate customer base from going. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted March 4 Paid Members Posted March 4 Werewolf Brewery in Camden put out a statement about the closure of a Brewdog pub near them, basically saying that if anyone had a booking or an event scheduled there, they will try and honour it free of charge, offering discount for anyone with a Punk Equity card, and trying to provide bar shifts for the former staff (and on an actual living wage, unlike Brewdog). Most pubs I know are pretty good on this stuff, so I'd hope there's a few more across the country trying to help people out of this as well. As they've pointed out, Brewdog cared so little about their staff that they couldn't even give them 24 hours notice that they were losing their jobs, and cared so little about their punters that they haven't even put up an A4 bit of paper on the door of the venue to explain why it's closed. Nowt as "punk" as taking the money and running. Just a shitshow, and kind of the only inevitable outcome of the downward trend in their credibility as a "we're the good guys!" company or employer.
