How child friendly is Kong? My 6 year old likes the look of it. I'm ok with her seeing soft 12A's but not so much the ones a fraction off a 15.

In terms of massive scary monsters fighting each other and killing people, it's a fair bit more intense and violent than Jurassic Park.

Rightio cheers. I'll give it a miss with the little one at the cinema.

The new King Kong is fantastic, it was really cool seeing them go completely balls out with him. The big scene when the helicopters arrived at skull island is the most fun I've had at the cinema for ages. It's definitely worth seeing it on the big screen too, there are some great shots showing off how insanely huge they made King Kong in it. I didn't even know John C Reilly was going to be in it so that was a cool surprise, he was great.

and they didn't kill Kong! Really happy with the Kong isn't the bad guy route they went, worked perfectly for me, sam jackson was great as the unreasonable nutter who wanted him dead

I think this film is the first film in a new "Monsters" universe because they are planning a Kong vs Godzilla film. There is also another universe starting up with The Mummy this year that will include Van Helsing, the Invisible Man and others

Did everyone who watched Kong stay for the post credits scene? Ive not seen the film but heard on the radio that lots of people are not realising and leaving early

The scene after the credits really wasn't worth staying for (and it wasn't even mid-credits, it was right at the end)

I didn't know they were going to link the Mummy to other Universal films they are planning, saying that Universal are shit. They made a big deal about how the last Van Helsing film was a return to form for monster movies and specifically mentioned about how they they own the iconic looks for so many monsters then they didn't even bother to use them (If you make a Frankenstein film and he has bolts on his neck, Universal WILL try and sue you) Everyone seems intent on making linked universes in films

Anyone seen Martyrs? God it's shit. The start was pretty tense and drew me in but when the pound shop Hillary Swank girl finds what she finds it becomes really really shite and stupid.

Aye it's stupid shite being shocking for the sake of it, the French went through a period of shoveling these "extreme" movies out. Some are better than others, Irréversible probably being the best of a bad bunch.

Ils (Them) probably wouldn't quite fall into the French Extreme bracket as it's not that violent, but it often gets lumped in there. It's a great film, easily the best of that sort of thing the French made around that time. But yeah, they're mostly shite.

Lads, has anyone braved Marauders so I don't have to?

I'm very, very curious about it and the premise looks good, but it got absolutely battered on release.

I do enjoy my straight to DVD releases, but I'm not sure about this one as I've seen some dickheads lately like Extraction, I Am Wrath and the absolutely muck, Precious Cargo (which I really wanted to love because of Mark-Paul Gosselaar)

Gridlocked was fantastic though. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and although I don't mind Big Dom Purcell and he's in wonderful nick, I always, always get taken out of whatever film or tv show he may be in when he's on screen as I can't help but think about the size of his head compared to the rest of his body and if he's asked to show remorse or sympathy in a scene and tilts his head to the side would he topple over and wind up in a headstand yoga pose. I've thought this since Prison Break.

I must have watched the remake because it wasn't French. I know this because there wasn't any underage nudity or crap foreign hip hop music.

I've wanted to see Them for years. It's nestled away with Intacto for a rare occasion where I am on my own in the house and I don't want to watch porn.

They did do a remake of Martyrs, so it's possible.

Intacto wasn't all that good. Sounded like a great idea on paper but ended up being a bit boring.

With regards to Martyrs, I've said this before on here I think. A friend of mine runs a horror festival and he told me that the director had said it was essentially two different films.

When he went to his pitch with the production company, he had two films he was punting to them. They wanted to combine the two and that's why the film feels like two because that's what it was.

As a result, what could have been a great film and a not so great film became a shit film.

The Deer Hunter.

Never seen this before so stopped to watch on Amazon Prime. I'm almost an hour in and so far some lads have clocked off work, had a few drinks, gone to a wedding and had a bit of a dance afterwards.

Is it worth sticking with? Trying with it here but fuck me, I'm struggling.
