Wasn't Victor Lewis Smith, he'd have spelt his name correctly.

Right. There is a long story behind these, but although at the time it was kind of fun, in retrospect it would be incredibly tedious to relate it. Short version: SOMEONE (ahem) faked these out-takes to hoax one particular journalist; they were leaked (ahem) to the previous incarnation of this Forum, many of whose members fell for them (including me, I'm the first to admit, but then they're bloody well written) and started talking to other people about them. The magic of e-mail spread the story around the country (oh all right, London anyway) quicker than I can belch the National Anthem, and within a week the "transcripts" were being mentioned in almost every media column. They were never intended for public consumption, and could have landed the Corpses in a shitload of trouble. They're very coy on the subject these days, so none of us are entirely sure what was threatened by whom, but it all seems to have blown over without anyone actually ending up in court. Which is nice.

I knew there was another documentary out there to expose him that was put back.

"BBC bosses have said they are "horrified" by allegations that its late presenter Sir Jimmy Savile abused under-age girls.

Numerous women have come forward to claim they were sexually assaulted by Savile, including allegations that he abused them at BBC TV Centre.

A spokesman for the BBC said today: "A number of serious and disturbing allegations have been made over the past few days about the sexual abuse of teenage girls by Jimmy Savile.

"Some of these allegations relate to activity on BBC premises in the 1960s and 70s.

"We are horrified by allegations that anything of this sort could have happened at the BBC - or have been carried out by anyone working for the BBC.

"They are allegations of a serious criminal nature which the police have the proper powers to investigate.

"So we have today asked the BBC investigations unit to make direct contact with all the police forces in receipt of allegations and offer to help them investigate these matters and provide full support to any lines of inquiry they wish to pursue."

The investigations unit is a division of the BBC responsible for security and safety matters within the corporation.

Earlier, the BBC came under fire for ditching a Newsnight investigation into abuse claims late last year.

Journalists had interviewed a number of alleged victims and were completing a film for broadcast in mid-December when they were told it would not be shown.

If the programme had gone ahead, it would have been aired only weeks before a special Boxing Day edition of Jim
