Watched a few in the last couple of days:-

Atsuko Okatsuka: Father

I really like her. Her previous special (The Intruder) was just as good as this. She's got a superb style and her delivery is always spot on and nothing really falls flat. Good stuff.

Michelle Wolf: The Well (Netflix)

Probably the weakest one I've seen from her, I'm otherwise a big fan. Doesn't feel as though she's got much material here, she's just cobbled together lots of stuff about babies. Being her, it's still quite funny but her previous specials were much better.

Jordan Jensen: Take Me With You (Netflix)

Never heard of her before but this is one of the best specials I think I've seen. Filthy but with actual jokes attached rather than just being for shock value, she's got tremendous delivery. Would pair perfectly with Jacqueline Novak: Get On Your Knees.

Gianmarco Soresi: Thief of Joy (YouTube)

Never heard of this guy either but, similar to above, a brilliant special. Plays off his theatre kid background so amusingly and he's firing off jokes when you least expect it, never missing with a single one. Loved this.

Joe DeRosa: I Never Promised You a Rose Garden (YouTube)

Seen this one get great reviews but to me it was just the usual middle-aged American white guy ranting and raving about everything being bad that I've seen tons of times before. Marc Maron, he ain't. The bit with the nurses was really funny, though.

Mike Rice: Nasty Character (YouTube)

Not bad. Starts off with a really good bit about Saltburn, drifts off a bit in the middle, but ends well. I'd watch more from him.

He does a great podcast with Vittorio Angelone. It’s called Guide To Parenting (neither are parents). Vittorio is a very good stand up as well and worth checking out.

Surprised by this. Everything I’ve heard from her on podcasts is always offensive comedy style without the nuance or awareness and leaning more in to the shock of saying something a bit naughty. She fit in well with the Cumtown lads (rip) but even they look subtle compared to her.

I don't listen to any podcasts so I have no frame of reference for her but I thought she was superb. I watched Stavros Halkias and Adam Friedland's stand-up specials a while back and thought they were shite.

What does any of this mean? I've no idea.

Streaming now on Netflix!

I think it’s fair to say she probably puts more thought in to her act than she does shooting the shit on podcasts. Maybe there’s a universe where Jim Davidson is a superb podcaster!

Stavvy is in the latest Yorgos Lanthimos film which I can assure you is quite the ascension from his Cumtown material.

Just been to see Vittorio Angelone. Jesus Christ, he was phenomenal. As you’d expect, the set had an ongoing theme of his background and The Troubles, but it was so well laid out and paced, the entire audience was doubled up from start to finish.

100% recommend getting a ticket if he ends up touring near you. The last 30 seconds had a large number of people hyperventilating.

I wasn't sure where to put this but this headline in Chortle this week is simply phenomenal.

I did my first proper paid stand up comedy gig last night (as in an actual fee, not "here's a tenner for petrol") and had one of my best gigs to date. I've been quite down on stand up lately for a number of reasons, but this has cheered me right up. I've got another paid gig for the same promoter in a few weeks, and I've also been booked by one of the biggest independent promoters on the UK circuit for a spot in a few months - apparently he usually books you on a gong show if he's never seen you before, but he booked me for a middle spot on the strength of my video alone so I must be doing something right.

Might be decent at this after all.

An East Midlands based promoter with my name? If so, good work! Smash that & you'll be set for regular gigs & on some good bills.

Yes! I actually just had a sudden panic that you were him before you posted and frantically started wondering if we'd had any negative interactions on here!
