Paid Members air_raid Posted November 17, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 17, 2011 Definitely the latter. Going back to Mark Henry, I haven't read Powerslam in yonks. But would I be right if I guessed that Fin hasn't given Mizark any credit for his recent run? Judging by the earlier comment of Randy being brilliant in putting him over. Â Just for you, 'corner. Or fruit, if you prefer. Â Last month Fin said : Â "WWE went all the way with Henry here. The match and its structure and the result were what can happen when a promotion makes a decision to do something wholeheartedly and implements it with the cooperation of the participants. WWE recognised that because Henry is rubbish, the arrangement of the match and his opponent had to accomplish what he could not. Â It's telling that WWE did not book Orton to lose cleanly on pay-per-view to the talented and charismatic Christian in their series from May to August. At no point was Christian allowed to appear Orton's equal. You know, if WWE had the sense to do what it did here with Henry with a wrestler who has skills, pizzazz and top-card potential, then someone might get over in a meaningful, business-increasing way. You know who the last mid-card-or-lower guy was before Henry whom WWE pushed as a dangerous heel over a period of months? Vladimir Kozlov in 2008..." Â (Air Raid editorial) : Bollocks to that last remark. Sheamus was portrayed as a killer prior to his elevation opposite Cena. He ended careers for fuck's sake. Â continued... Â "That Mark Henry was made World champion was a sad indictment of the state of the company and its years-long failure to exercise the patience and discipline to persevere with talent in order to create stars." Â (Air Raid editorial) : What a fucking retarded comment. Say what you want about Mark, they persevered with him, and now he's at least by some standards, a star. What a nonsensical contradiction. Â "Henry was chosen because WWE felt there were no other suitable candidates. The star shortage is something that will only be exacerbated by the decision to use the remaining top names of SmackDown on Raw and vice versa: it means less creative attention and television time will be allocated to the mid-carders who really need it. Â Nevertheless, the Henry win did reveal something about WWE which one of an optimistic disposition could construe as a faint beacon of hope. WWE can still put someone over the right way: WWE, assisted by the brilliant Randy Orton, could not have worked harder at NOC to make Henry look like championship material on the night." Â tbc... Paid Members air_raid Posted November 17, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 17, 2011 Here's THIS month's dose of Martin's bile towards the World Champion : Â "Wow! Henry scored a clean pinfall on Orton in singles bouts on two pay-per-views. That's two more clean wins than Christian, CM Punk or The Miz were granted in one-on-one bouts against Orton on pay-per-view. The difference is, Henry - as the 15 years prior to Night of Champions proved - doesn't have the talent to get himself over, so WWE had to act for him. Christian, Punk and Miz all have what Henry lacks, and were therefore expected to find a way to convince the public that they were Orton's equal, even though the booking portrayed them as inferior." Â It goes ON, in a two page (part one of who knows?) piece about WWE generally being shit and failing to make new stars : Â "Vince McMahon expressed to investors that he had full confidence in his companys talent development structure in February and, yet, he made 15-year flop Mark Henry World champion on September 18. Would that have happened if the WWE machine was firing on all cylinders? Of course not." Â Â Â In other PS news of note, you can sort of see gadge in one of the photos from the Dragon Gate UK show. Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted November 18, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Christ, they are just reporting on Mark Henry's title win now? That was ages ago. Power Slam is turning into one of those American import mags with the grey pages from the late 90s, with front covers such as "Can Owen Hart be the man to stop The Rattlesnake?", two weeks after his funeral. iamtheman
So the huge pop when mark won the title means what in fins eyes? Â And also mark got the crap kicked out of him by randy after the HIAC match which wasn't really helpful to him but he's still ok
Paid Members PunkStep Posted November 18, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 18, 2011 Cheers for that air_raid, was pretty much what I thought PS would say on the whole thing. This bit sums it up, and sometimes makes you think wrestling has to slap Fin Martin round the face and have him see it for what it is, and stop trying to over-analyse shit and workr8~~  Wow! Christian, Punk and Miz all have what Henry lacks, and were therefore expected to find a way to convince the public that they were Orton's equal, even though the booking portrayed them as inferior  NO, THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT MARK HENRY IS A BIG, BLACK MAN WHO LOOKS LIKE HE COULD KILL ANYONE  Having him go over Orton clean two PPVs in a row rather than Christian, Punk or The Miz is smart booking for someone they are trying to get over as dominant monster. In fact, it's such basic booking logic, it isn't even considered smart. It just makes bloody sense. Orton would look a lot more credible losing clean two months running to Mark Henry than any of the other three mentioned.
robrage
You can also see Mr. Fludder in his big USA hat sat in the crowd behind Hogan in the " Im Stealing The Show Brother " article.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted November 18, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 18, 2011 What did Finlay say about Hogan's herculean effort at Bound For Glory?
iamtheman
just summarising here but hogan apparantly telegraphed his turn by playing to the crowd. he notes that hogan moved with more grace and speed than he had in over a year.  in contrast to the other matches on the card the match was an execise in milking every hold, bump, mannerism for all it was worth. they didnt rush anything, their timing was spot on and the match length was judged perfectly. as basic and dated as the match was it was a tremendous success.  finlay and ernie santilli accuse hogan of pulling off the hogging the limelight moments that he did at wrestlemania 6 and 18. although ernie admits he wasnt as annoyed by it as he thought he would be  and his theory as to why roode didnt win the title was because he didnt want a younger wrestler overshadowing him on what he decided was his night. he admits the the accusation hogan didnt want roode as champion was obviously bollocks he just didnt want the big baby face win Edited November 18, 2011 by iamtheman
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted November 18, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) They were cheering for him before him as soon as his music hit. Did Hogan hand out all those "Hulk Rules" signs and kidnap all those people in attendance and forced them to dress as him? Telegraphed face turn? Fucking hilarious. Power Slam is the only magazine where a wrestler gets slagged off for his ability to work a crowd. THAT WAS THE STORY OF THE WHOLE FEUD!!! That the "old" Hulk came back, couldn't get the job done, so he shook Sting's hand like a man. Max Power
Don't let it get to you Ian, you'll have a coronary. That's the first time I've seen you use captial letters because you're completely flummoxed so you can't articulate what you're trying to say. But then again, our friend Fin has the ability to do this. Â To be fair, are we all surprised at the last page or so? PS hate Henry. They hate Hogan. They like flip flopping ROH badgers who wrestle for 85 minutes and couldn't tell a story if they were provided with a book and a class of infants. Â Count to ten Ian, and get back to your top 50.... Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted November 18, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted November 18, 2011 Did Mark Henry once fuck Fin Martin's missus or something? His blind hatred for the man is just pathetic. It actually makes me angry to think that a so-called journalist gets away with publishing shite like that. What a cock. Â Just for Fin, I'd love for WWE to find a way of booking Mark Henry to FUCKING DESTROY Christian in the coming months.
