Does he come off as bad live as he does on video? I was an Axl defender for years, but it's brutal now, hard to listen too. Quote

Paid Members Monkee Posted July 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 6, 2025 Gojira are my current obsession (along with Architects) so watching them do Mea Culpa was fantastic. I really need to see them live. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted July 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 6, 2025 I didn’t think Axl sounded too bad during Never Say Die and Juniors Eyes. It was downhill after that though unfortunately. Maybe let Duff sing a bit. Quote

Merzbow Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 Subside are showing a replay right now, not a pub I personally set foot in unless I'm already hammered but if anyone's still in Brum. Quote

Paid Members Monkee Posted July 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 6, 2025 Currently watching Anthrax in Finsbury Park and loving it. Never really given them much of a listen before but I’ll definitely add a couple of albums to my listening list after this. Recommendations of where to start? Quote

Their back catalogue can be a bit hit and miss, but Among The Living is considered to be their masterpiece. Quote

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted July 6, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted July 6, 2025 Yeah, Among the Living is the starting point. The majority of what they are playing is probably from that record. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted July 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 6, 2025 Plus, Joey Belladonna has always been their best singer imo. I rarely listen to any Anthrax with their other lead singers. Quote

Different singer but try We've Come For You All. John Bush is a really different vocalist but it's an awesome album. If you like how he sounds try The Greater Of Two Evils which is them re-recording old Joey-era songs with John on vocals. Attack Of The Killer As is a good greatest hits compilation. Quote

Spreading the disease, it's a top 5, maybe top 3 thrash album for me. Medusa is the best song they ever did. Joey Belladonna has the coolest voice in thrash, I love it. John Bush sux Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted July 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 7, 2025 It's not representative of much of their output, but Safe Home by Anthrax is an absolute nu-metal banger. In that small era when everyone was trying to sound like Halo by Soil. Quote
