I think for Rob the drummer, he'd sort of left years ago (considering they haven't been a band since 2017 maybe an easy decision) and who knows, maybe carrying on without Chester was just too hard.

I can see why she's been quiet about the church stuff. It's a weird one isn't it? One of those things that either puts people off completely or just gets ignored depending on who it is.

Pussed out of doing the 30th Anniversary of The X Factor then. Im joking of course, there was no way they were ever going to be doing that.

Interesting to see if they follow through on what Bruce was saying earlier this year about how tickets down the front should be cheaper as that’s where the “real fans” are. Who am I kidding, of course they won’t be, you’re paying an arm and leg for this.

Genuinely though, if your going to try and get tickets for this, I hope you have a good time

They played Sign of the Cross on the Legacy of the Beast tour and I think thats more than enough for most. (I would go wild for Man on the Edge tbh)

They are saying this is the biggest stage show ever or something so you already know its going to be a decent increase on the last tour. I am expecting it to be STEEP as its like £100 to see Pantera ffs. I will pay it though. I always do. I am literally a fanclub member for presales. I went to Birmingham and Glasgow on the Future Past tour and will try for Manchester and Glasgow this time.

Absolutely gutted as I’m on holiday for three of the shows. Which leaves Glasgow as my only chance but I doubt I’ll be able to go. It’ll be a great show.

I got an email from Royal Mail earlier saying that I’d received a parcel. Great I thought, as I’m expecting a copy of Bell Witch’s ‘Mirror Reaper’ to arrive as Evil Greed has had a restock recently. 
I open up the package, and there’s a couple of cut off pieces of paper with some download codes from APF Records. I lift another of the flaps (wayhey) and there’s a lovely reflective Swamp Coffin sticker in there, along with the new album from our very own @cobra_gordo and the lads almost a week ahead of schedule.

 

At the risk of sounding like I’m blowing smoke up your arse, you should all be very proud for what you’ve put together, you sound absolutely massive. Popped like an idiot when the Howard Beale segment hit

Firstly, thanks for picking a copy up. That whole album is very much a labour of grief as much as love and we're incredibly proud of it. I drew the cover art myself on a free app on my phone on the bus on the way to work and seeing the first batch of pictures come through with the records propped up against people's turntables has been really emotional. I love that sample by the way, it also sets up how vicious the song becomes after it really nicely.

This whole week has been mad. First three tour dates with A Horse Called War last week culminating in a rammed show at the Dev in Camden. Got home to an 8/10 review from Metal Hammer and got played on Radio 1's introducing rock show Monday night. All completely mental for what is essentially three dads doing DIY sludge metal.

Currently sat at the merch desk at Dead Wax Digbeth for the last night of the run. Light attendance tonight, partly because large chunks of Birmingham were already under water on the drive in due to torrential downpours and lightning. 

Really looking forward to the albums proper release on Friday and hopefully other folk have the same reaction as you. 

Edit: Birningham gig ended up being probably the most fun of the whole run, despite being the smallest crowd of the four shows. And they bought the most merch. Weird how that happens sometimes.

Anyone here into Frank Zappa?

I've sort of avoided him my entire life because my guitar teacher loved him when I was young, and he was a wally. But I'm a huge Tom Waits fan, and in my 20s got into Captain Beefheart, so I've been Zappa-adjacent for a while and recently decided to try and tackle his back catalogue.

Any artist that is knowingly trying to straddle as many genres as he does is going to be hit and miss, but there is some really good stuff in there.

So far, I've really loved Over-Nite Sensation and Hot Rats; liked The Grand Wazoo, One Size Fits All, Apostrophe and hated We're Only In It For The Money.

I'm listening to Uncle Meat as I post this, and it's somewhere between the 'liked' and 'hated' groups above.

I'm a casual Zappa fan, I'd say. 

The aforementioned Overnite Sensation & Joe's Garage are my favourites of the studio output, but I mostly find myself returning to live recordings. In particular Does Humor Belong in Music?, You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol 6 & Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life. 

I believe @Surf Digby is the real Zappaphile around these parts.
