WyattSheepMask Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 (edited) For anyone that missed its release a couple of weeks ago, Gaerea’s new album (Coma) is spectacular stuff, and might possibly end up being my pick for album of the year Edited November 6, 2024 by WyattSheepMask Quote
Merzbow Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Both my picks of the year are likely from the same one woman project, La Torture des Tenebres, hadn't released anything in years then puts out two black metal albums that blow everyone else out of the water. Stupidly fucking harsh but the second one somehow managed to add pop elements while losing none of it's power, if anything it adds. Quote
cobra_gordo Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Mine is currently Cerebral Purgatory by Resin Tomb. Proper filthy, dissonant, blackened sludge. Seems to have become my go to album for when I've had a bad day at work so it's been played a lot. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted November 13, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted November 13, 2024 The Download announcement then... Really glad they pulled the trigger on Korn headlining. What a slow build to headlining, love to see it though. Sleep Token however go and smash it in a couple of years, ive never given them a chance really but i love the ballsiness of the booking. Quote
The Gaffer Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I won't be going but they definitely deserve credit for going all in on Nu Download after years and years of people complaining of stagnancy. The last two years started to skew much younger/crossover and they both more or less sold out so there's absolutely no reason not to do it. Imagine how much easier booking this thing is talking to Sleep Token's team on the phone as opposed to Maiden and Kiss. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted November 13, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 13, 2024 Interesting to see if CKY do play after the cancelled/got kicked off the Alien Ant Farm tour in Europe when Chad Ginsburg punched AAFs front man. The rest of the group have already distanced themselves from him. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted November 13, 2024 Members Posted November 13, 2024 I think that Download line up is really decent. There's loads on there I'd want to see rather than the usual 1 or 2. Quote
deathrey Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I love McFly but they seem an odd addition to Download. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted November 13, 2024 Members Posted November 13, 2024 Just now, deathrey said: I love McFly but they seem an odd addition to Download. I'd say this is an "ironic" booking to be honest which I don't particularly like but I'm pleased for them. Quote
deathrey Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 As long as the crowd aren't arseholes to them because they are very good at what they do Quote

Them and Busted have now come sort of a 180 where 20 years ago they'd have been booed off stage if they'd played as not REALRAWK, but now people appreciate that they are genuinely talented musicians in their own right and are "respected" I mean McFly are a million times better than BMTH. deathrey Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I really do hope that's the case. I'd probably choose to see McFly over Green Day if I'm honest Quote
The Gaffer Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Yeah it's the Scooter booking. I don't know I'm calling it that as Download have never booked Scooter. But they fucking should. Quote

DavidB6937 Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 I'm all for Scooter simply for the one lyric of 'It must be Dave who's on the train!'' which I absolutely believe is about me and I won't hear any different. Quote
