Whatever happened to new Mercyful Fate? They did all those fests and played a new track called The Jackal of Salzburg then it seems to have gone quiet.

There is still a new album expected, but it only seems to be occurring between King Diamond doing his own thing.

In other news, Iron Maiden have announced their new drummer. Simon Dawson has been promoted from Steve Harris’ British Lion band to the Maiden stool.

Cerebral Purgatory by Resin Tomb for me. Just properly nasty stuff.

Our latest is cropping up on end of year lists and one of the singles was on Metal Hammer's top 100 metal songs of the year list last week. All very bizarre and a bit overwhelming.

My album of the year is Gaerea’s ‘Coma’. I did make a top ten list of what I enjoyed most this year, 2-10 are in no particular order but I had to have that at the top, I was absolutely blown away by it

That's really nice of you to say, cheers. I'm dead proud of it, it's taken a lot of effort and it's a nice bonus that other people like it too.

Last gig of the year tomorrow with our mates in Mastiff in Leeds and then I'll spend the Christmas period trying to spice up setlists for next year. We really want to play "Chapter and Hearse" live.

Usually towards the end of the line up being finalised. I’d take a guess as being around March or April as being the time that any names that are going to draw the crowd will have been announced, so I’d expect it around then.

The headliners are always in the order they appear on the poster, so Green Day will be Friday, Sleep Token on Saturday and Korn will be Sunday.

Is there a particular act you’re looking for? Maybe check their tour dates on their website and see if they’ve let slip which day they’re on

It's for a mate, I got pished and bought weekend tickets but he might do a day depending on bands he's interested in (green day, Weezer, darkness, me first, iirc)

If it’s any help to you, Me First and The Gimmie Gimmies are playing Novarock in Austria on Saturday June 14th, meaning they’ll be on either the Friday or the Sunday at Download.

Haven't listened to any metal for a while, but today in the gym played Sad but True by Metallica, and Iron Maidens The Trooper and The Number of the Beast, testosterone and lifts immediately shot through the roof.
