I stand by it but it's only my opinion.

Looking at the track listings from Vol. 3 onwards, there's only 3 or 4 songs per album I would care to listen to / see live.

I don't know why but I specifically remember reading Metal Hammer before Vol. 3 came out on the train to Dublin - to see a godawful Smackdown house show - in 2005 and Joey Jordison was on record of saying Vermillion was one of the best rock songs ever recorded. That was the birth of Notions Slipknot for me.

I don’t mind Vol. 3 and think there’s a few good songs on it but I still think Terry Date’s mix of Vermillion is loads better than the album version and he should have mixed the entire record. 
 

I quite like his version of the Wait & Bleed mix too, but I don’t think his style would have suited the full record.

Seemed like Amen were huge in the early 00’s abd then just disappeared..

That's sad, I remember he moved to making black metal after Amen's last album but I don't think it panned out too well even though the music was solid.

Amen were huge though, one of the biggest hardcore bands in the world for a time.

They had a huge problem with their label from what I recall. Basically the label restructured and wouldn’t let the band have the masters for their new album. They did eventually get signed to Daron from SOADs label, but that was a few years after they blew up and everybody had moved on in the interim.

I saw them at a couple of festivals and they were wild shows

Ahh that's upset me abit. 

Casey Chaos and Amen were a big part of me properly getting into music back in the late 90's. Luckily got to see Amen a handful of times, including their infamous show at the LA2 when Chaos cut himself with a bottle and got rushed to hospital during the encore of the show. That was still when the band had their original lineup, they blew my tiny young brain. 

Think i'll crank those first two Amen albums in the van on Monday.

Wow that is super sad. Amazing every time I saw them live and that 2nd album has some amazing tracks! It’s such a shame they never managed to hold stuff together long enough or keep a stable lineup to get the recognition they deserved

Sounds like they are pushing through an unreleased new Amen album. Apparently it was finished and was just needing mixing. 

I listened to a podcast from a few years ago featuring Chaos after the news of his death and it sounds like he was sitting on tons of unreleased material, it just never came out for whatever reason.

Facebook thread cross-posting but thought it would be more appreciated in here. The absolute state of this. Maybe it's the weird upbeat tone of the post, maybe it's trying to get engagement through a competition to win a tribute magazine or ALL of the exclamation marks but lord, this makes my skin crawl.

Bringing back the blast beats. I enjoyed ‘Infinite Granite’ for what it was, but I get why some people didn’t like it.

Christ, I saw them on that original tour! Had a fantastic snide hoodie I bought outside that I wore until it fell apart.

Setlist.fm says Astoria but I'm sure it was Hammersmith.

They are one of the few nu-metal big hitters I never got to see, if they come over here packaged with a few others bands i'm definitely going.

Height of Callousness is a solid record too, leagues above the debut album.
