As predicted, Ghost did release new single ‘Satanized’ (the acrostic was accurate) this morning, but they also announced their new album, ‘Skeletá’ out on April 25th. Managed to snag one of the exclusive vinyl variants, but the one I really wanted sold out almost immediately. Google says £25 in '85 carries the purchase power of £96.80 in 2025, so in those terms it's not bad if true given the "super show" feel and prices for that Sabbath show. I was under the impression that the Sabbath tickets were a lot more than £90. I still think £90 to see Slayer is a lot, but like I say, we now look at that as reasonable. Quote

I was genuinely expecting £150 per ticket so that may be factoring in to me not feeling too shafted at what I paid. Quote

I was going to make a similar point, in that’s it’s reasonable for what’s you’re getting on that day. Had this been just Slayer or Slayer plus one support I’d maybe feel different, but a 6 band card with 5 decent sized names on it that’s going to take up an entire day if you’re having to travel to it (in my case it would be a minimum 4hr drive), it’s as good as you’re going to get in this day & age. For comparison, 8 years ago I spent £75 to go see KISS at Manchester Arena (cancelled due to the bombing the week before) and £70 to go and see Kraftwerk at Sheffield City Hall with no opening act (not sure who you’d put on before them). Absolutely, and inflation etc but I reckon I paid £18 for Slipknot, Slayer, Hatebreed and Lamb of God 'back in the day' and I just hate how expensive everything is these days. Quote
