Ulf ist Gut Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Possibly not a new addition to the line up but I hope Year Of No Light do a London date around Arctangent - they were awesome at Portals last year. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 (edited) Just booked to go and see I Am Morbid at Manchester Rebellion in August. It’s the version of Morbid Angel that features David Vincent and Pete Sandoval and this time they’re doing songs from ‘Domination’. Seen as actual-Morbid Angel don’t seem to want to play anywhere outside of the U.S. anymore (they haven’t played outside of the U.S. since the end of 2014), seeing this version of the band is the only chance to hear those songs live anymore Edited March 27, 2025 by WyattSheepMask Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 8, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted April 8, 2025 It's 2001 again muthafucker. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted April 8, 2025 Posted April 8, 2025 Can’t believe they’re still using that photo of Jonny Santos, he looks rough as fuck. “I’m Jonny Santos, and it’s all gone wrong for me” Posted this in the gigs & concerts thread but might as well mention it here too. This got announced yesterday and tickets are only between £15-£20 depending on venue. Mastiff are great too, so getting both of those for such a price in this day & age is a total steal Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 8, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted April 8, 2025 When Spineshank posted the lineup photo originally I actually looked up who was in the band because I didnt think Johnny Santos was in the photo Would love to goto a Speedhorn show, nowhere near though and Novembers a bad month for me. Sure there's only 2 members in Speedhorn who actually played on that record too. Not that it'll matter, they are still a force live. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted April 8, 2025 Members Posted April 8, 2025 New Turnstile is gorgeous. Quote

WyattSheepMask Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 Saw Ghost last night on the opening of the new world tour. As the shows are operating under a ‘ No phones’ policy I won’t spoil anything for anyone else going, but if they don’t headline Download in 2026 then there’s something seriously wrong Quote

I thought Impera was a bit too poppy - and I say that as someone who is all there for Tobias's Black SABBAth commercial aims - but if Lachryma is anything to go by it's great to see them go back to those murky, stoned 70s riffs whilst keeping all the catchiness and still getting bigger and bigger. A man with a plan. Completely deserving of the spot they're in at the moment. Quote

I had tickets to their last tour and was really ill and couldn’t go so im keeping my fingers crossed that nothing happens this time! Edited April 16, 2025 by Bruce85 Quote

If you’ve got standing tickets I recommend getting there early as people started queuing first thing in the morning in Manchester. I saw some pics of the line that had already formed early in the afternoon so headed down there to secure my spot in the queue, and even that was 2hrs before the doors even opened. I ended up getting a decent spot even once I was in (middle of the floor maybe about 15 people back), but it was insane to see how long the line already was so early. I won’t spoil anything as I imagine the set will be the same, but I loved the choices that they made for this show. As for the No Phones thing, I was in two minds about it when they first announced it, but after last night I’m all for it for shows in areas. The whole crowd (a full arena setup sell out) was so engaged for the whole thing, exactly how it should be. Another piece of advice- if you want any merch or to get something from the bar, make sure to bring your credit or debit card. There were soooooo many people unable to buy any merch because they didn’t bring anything with them because they’re so used to using Apple Pay. Edited April 16, 2025 by WyattSheepMask Quote
huwbacca Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 After missing them 30 or so years ago i was lucky enough that Acid Bath are playing an hours drive from me and snagged a ticket. Dont know any of the other bands outside High on Fire but for once being this side of the Atlantic has worked out for me. Quote
King Mal the Glorious Posted April 19, 2025 Posted April 19, 2025 Windhand and Sonja are both great, I'd be all over that if it was here. Quote

Bit sad they didn’t play spillways but I’ll let them off as that was amazing! The stage show was incredible but it wasn’t just style over substance, musically they were so tight and sounded incredible. I only got to the arena at 6:30 and got in at 7:55, just enough time to grab a beer and get a good spot. Even though I got in late, it was really empty and and easy to get a good spot but it soon got busy! I’m not a fan of phones at gigs, the odd picture/video is fine but I hate standing behind someone and having to watch the whole show through their phone screen so I was fine with them banning them. But I was surprised how much of a difference I felt it made, it seemed like everyone was so engrossed with the show! I also made sure to take the bank card with me, thanks for the heads up! Quote
