I do indeed love a bit of the Zappas (both Frank and Dweezil). 

Good choices so far, especially The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life. I'm also fond of You Are What You Is, Jazz From Hell and Weasels Ripped My Flesh.

The "Baby Snakes" band from 1979 were superb, and Frank's guitar playing around this time was awesome. The '79 version of Black Napkins is possibly my all time favourite Zappa track.

I also really like the 1970 line up with George Duke and Ruth Underwood. A completely different sound to the "Baby Snakes" band or the 1988 "Best Band" band.

If you like Joe's Garage, there's a fantastic live version of Watermelon In Easter Hay from the '88 tour from Barcelona.

Joe's Garage is today's listening, and musically I'm all in (save for a few instances of slap bass), but good grief I'm finding the 'humour' a hard wall to climb. Im supposed to be going to the Birmingham show but still not had my tickets through. Anyone else not had theirs yet? Trying to find a contact number for See Tickets is like trying to find Madeline McCann

Not sure if you're a Twitter/X person but I got a response from them on there far quicker than finding a contact number when I had a previous issue.

Cheers @DavidB6937, I’ll give it a try. I’ve used them for years and never had an issue, but their website is saying that tickets are being fulfilled by the venue and for any issues to contact the venue, which I did….who told to contact See Tickets, so who the hell knows ??‍♂️.

Ive got a confirmation and everything so im still heading down to the show regardless

Had a bit more time with my headphones than I expected today and did Joe's Garage, Burnt Weeny Sandwich and Weasal's Ripped My Flesh.

Joe's Garage was good, a bit slick at times for me and didn't love the humour or concept. Burnt Weeny Sandwich was brilliant, up there with Over-Nite Sensation and Hot Rats for me as one of my favourites I've heard of his since I started this deepdive.

Weasel's though? Stone me. Absolutely thrilling. If it stands up to a second listen, it might go into my list of favourite records ever. It bobs when you expect a weave, it weaves when you expect a bob. It's free jazz. It's industrial rock. It's pop. It's a bit of everything. Absolutely brilliant. Rare I get excited from listening to a record, but hell's teeth this was a good listen.

I'm considering the Brum date of Cannibal Corpse but I've got two other gigs this week, hardcore band Spy tomorrow and Party Cannon and Pint Glass on Friday.

Might just look out for last second cheaper tickets on TicketSwap etc.

Cracking bill, but if I’m being honest Immolation being on there was did it for me. Love Cannibal Corpse of course but I’ve seen them a bunch of times and the while show is always great, I’ve been wanting to see Immolation for years. Aside from one show in 2022, they’ve not been here since before the pandemic.

Let us know how much T-shirts are going for, I’m guessing £30 at a minimum

If Brat play Social Grace then some metaller is likely accidentally catching a stray hand in Brum...

But yeah that's a killer line-up and knowing Full of Hell their set could go in any direction, from grind to hardcore to sludge to harsh noise.

£35 a shirt I think it was. There were bootleg merch sellers outside the gig though which you don't see much these days, but it always gives that little nostalgic feeling when I see them selling their shit.

Cannibal Corpse were reliably great, they sounded brilliant in The Beacon too, that's a grand ol' room and a fancy building you wouldn't expect to see a death metal band in, but it worked. They played one song minus Corpsegrinder too, he had to run off as he nearly shit his pants.

 Municipal Waste tidy support too, broke up the death metal nicely.

Ha, to be fair it'll probably sell out and there wont even be room for a hardcore pit.

Just saw that Trauma Bond have new stuff coming out, they might just be my favourite UK act right now for sheer pulverising powerviolence. They often mix in some noise and drone on their albums, too.
