Vamp
I'm a Tintin fan so probably shouldn't have liked the film that much, considerign it doesn't really follow the original material that well, but it's good fun. And that's all you want from it really.
Dai
Dredd - Was good, but after remembering how much some people were raving about it on here, I didnt think it was THAT good. Very formulaic, with loads of the action movie cliches fulfilled, but still good fun. Its appearing in all those 'Top 10 Flops of 2012' lists that are floating about, which is a shame, as this was a very good platform to make an even bigger/better film in the future. Paid Members Fox Piss Posted December 30, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted December 30, 2012 Just watched American Movie. Â Think it may just pip King of Kong. Very funny and touching with a eerie setting and great bunch of oddballs.

Very funny and touching with a eerie setting and great bunch of oddballs. Â Yeah, it's a great doc, I went and watched Covan afterwards, not sure if North Western was ever released/leaked. He's apparently been working on another film for a while too called Scare Me.
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted December 31, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted December 31, 2012 The Sweeney - Wanted to like it, but the random use of inappropriate music at strange times was jarring, and Ray Winstone was almost a parody of himself. ItsClobberingTime
Finally watched Horrible Bosses and The Change Up yesterday, mostly due to my Jason Bateman love. Both were harmless. Probably liked Horrible Bosses more (Spacey as a cunt is always good) though I'd probably have sex with Ryan Reynolds.
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted December 31, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted December 31, 2012 Those films are both abysmal, I like Jason Bateman and I'm also gay for R2 but for me they were just 2 more added to the list of terrible and disappointing mainstream American comedies of the past few years. Way too over the top with painfully few laughs.
ItsClobberingTime
I've seen enough Adam Sandler and Kevin James movies over the past few years to politely disagree with your 'abysmal' assessment. Would either win any awards? Nope, but like I said, both are fairly harmless. I have certainly seen much much worse.
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted December 31, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted December 31, 2012 I think it's because I expected them to be half decent that I hate them. Unfortunately I've seen Jack and Jill, I anticipated so little from it that if it had even been ok I think I would've died of shock.
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted January 2, 2013 Awards Moderator Share Posted January 2, 2013 Saw Quartet last night. I have to wonder what made Dustin Hoffman choose this as his first film to direct - a British film set in a home for retired musicians starring Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly and Tom Courtenay - but he's made a great debut. Restrained, refined, easy-going and just plain lovely. Â I don't think it'll have much, if any, overlap with most UKFFers' interests, but I really liked it. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 2, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted January 2, 2013 on the subject of Sandler, i busted out The Wedding Singer for the first time in a few years yesterday, perfect New Year's Day fodder for me.
King Pitcos
This is 40. Not as good as Knocked Up, but not as bad as Funny People. A few good laughs, and Paul Rudd is great as ever. The highlight is the scene with the fat one from Bridesmaids in the principal's office, and the outtakes with her at the end.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted January 2, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) Finally got around to watching the original swedish Girl with the Dragon tattoo trilogy, at least the first 2 anyway. Â These were the extended editions as well and I must say they were fantastic. I still adore the American version of the first book and prefer Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara as the lead characters, but this was still fantastic. With it being extended there was a lot of content included keeping it truer to the book. Â My main gripe was that you can tell from the second film onwards that it was filmed especially for TV as the picture (even on blu ray) was particularly awful. Â Also recently watched Life of Pi in 3D. Great film but not as good as I thought it was going to be. Visually it is stunning though and Ang Lee should be applauded for getting that film made. GalaxyV.2
I watched Kill List a few days ago. I had heard a lot of good things about it, but found it a bit 'meh'. Maskell and Smiley are very good in it though. Â The ending is also stupid.

Maskell and Smiley are very good in it though. The ending is also stupid.  Didn't understand the hype myself. Very bleak in a dull way, if that makes sense. Maskell is a good actor, but woefully miscast in Bonded by Blood, that I watched only recently. Very poor version of Rise of the Footsoldier.
