Paid Members PunkStep Posted April 7, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 7, 2016 I can't remember what the shows were actually like, but apparently the first song I ever learnt to sing was the theme tune to Sons and Daughters. Assuming the New Zealand Lamb jingle doesn't count.
Porkchopcash
Sons and Daughters was a top show.
Sphinx
Watched a few episodes of Jane The Virgin on Netflix and it seems pretty good so far. Archer on the other hand is atrocious.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted April 7, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 7, 2016 I think you've accidentally typed that the wrong way around.
Sphinx
I've had a few people recommend Archer. One said she hated it at first but grew to like it. There's no variety. It's just loud, no real jokes as such, just 'oh look! He's only gone to a casino and got a hooker with expenses money! And now he's offering the hooker to a 'big African man'! or 'he's got a boner whilst holding a girl in a shootout stalemate!' Rubbish. Â Jane the Virgin isn't particularly funny, but it's alright to turn your brain off to, like Friends. There's enough going on with the story so far. Mr_Danger
Is it wrong that Spinx just sold Archer to me?
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted April 7, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 7, 2016 Haha. Â That's such an odd criticism, Sphinx, I'm not really sure how to respond to it.
Sphinx
I guess I should just say 'it's not my cup of tea'. They just seem like easy gags.
Paid Members DEF Posted April 9, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2016 I know this has been said a gazzillion times but The Wire is now officially my favourite TV show that isn't Wrasslin or starring Paul Robinson. It's just SO well acted/written. I finished the final episode last night and I'm absolutely gutted it finished. The thing is it's such a rich universe that you could follow any of those characters forever and still be just as gripping. Like the boys that are in prison by the end of the final season, that shit would be fascinating. It's chock full of great characters to the point its hard to pinpoint who your favourite is but shhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Clay Davis is tremendous entertainment. Â I can't recommend the Blu-ray boxset enough. It's slightly controversial because originally it was broadcast in 4x3 and its been remastered in widescreen but I'll be damned if it doesn't look absolutely gorgeous. You would never know it wasn't always in widescreen. The people that did the remaster did the series proud. It's one of the best looking Blu-rays I own IMO.
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted April 9, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2016 Not as good as the Shield though innit
Paid Members DEF Posted April 9, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2016 I love The Shield nearly as much. I can completely see how someone could lean towards the The Shield. It's like the popcorn version of The Wire. That sounds like a knock but it's really not.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted April 9, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2016 I watched The Shield directly after I finished The Wire. After The Wire's gritty realism it was impossible for me to get into the over the top popcorn style of The Shield.
Paid Members Your Fight Site Posted April 9, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2016 I can only assume Sphinx doesn't know what humour is. Â "DANGER ZONE!"
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted April 9, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 9, 2016 Archer is brilliant for many reasons, but Pam alone is enough to make it brilliant.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted April 10, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 10, 2016 Finally finished watching Sons Of Anarchy yesterday. So much I love about it, but it feels like a series of two halves. It's packed with action all the way through, but the first few series feel much more fun, whilst the later series get way too depressive and heavy. Still fuggin' great, and that finale...good god.
