Hearts came out well, Motherwell got the toughest draw in the country so they shouldn't be ashamed and whatever the Hibs result won't be embrassing. I wasn't quite right but I'm very happy with 4 points out of those first two even if neither Spurs or Liverpool appear to have hit the ground running. Things felt really stale at Newcastle last year but it actually feels quite exciting at the moment if not a little precarious. Over the last twelve months we've got the best part of four hundred million for four players who didn't want to be at the club and invested in younger more exciting players. Crucially, it's looking like Howe did the best thing by leaving. Jaissle really seems to have energised the team and it's been telling in the performances, especially Wissa and Elanga who were abject last year. You can all point at this and laugh in a few months, but yeah fun times! Quote

I’ll maintain he’s a good player, probably one of the best attacking players to grace any bench in the league but he’s not your go to man when you need an attacker to make the difference. We’ll probably never get another offer of £85m for him again but as the alternatives were Ismailia Sarr and Yankuba Minteh it would have been like selling your 5 bedroom house to buy a caravan. The Gaffer Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Whilst goals matter to a team more than who is scoring them, I can't help but feel Cody Gakpo has that faint air of not being the player that you want rescuing you - especially with the marquee signings Liverpool have made in the last few windows - but he's often the one that winds up on the score sheet where an Isak is arsing about in anonymity. That and a sort of quiet likeableness to him make me quite fond of Gakpo. Quote
