That alone has me just giving up on all football for the year. 

It's not like Spurs, where we spend money and still are absolute fucking shite with no redeeming qualities, but instantly we show just how wank the league is in general, let alone one piss poor side in it.

😆😆😆 you've your head here a bit here mate because I've mentioned Celtic, what have Spurs got to do with Celtic? Spurs will always be shit and no one knows this more than Spurs fan (was much better when we had our own thread, but Punkstep isn't around) 

Celtics collapse tonight was really one for the ages though. A 90th minute equaliser and a 120th minute winner is just a glorious way to go down. LASK had 40 shots. 40. Amazing.

Laughed my head off when I read that Celtic result last night, especially after O'Neill's public message to the players warning of complacency ahead of the game. This isn't coming from a snide place either, I actually like Celtic and was hoping that we might get to see a Man United vs Celtic tie in the CL this season. Sometimes you just have to laugh.

@SuperBaconI had to get one more Spurs barb in before I take up knitting for the year. 

But yeah, 40 bloody shots when we weren't going to sit back, we were going on the front foot etc etc. Celtic did well enough to invest up top but the defence and goalkeeper aren't Championship quality let alone Champions League and again it was a case of "we'll invest once we know which competition we're in". 

I actually missed the game, went to a pub quiz then had a nap after work and woke up to messages along the lines of "you won't believe it". Amazingly I did believe it. 

But yes, that saves me making a choice between Celtic and Bake Off for the remainder of the year. And paying for a sports package on Now or TNT. 

But honestly, for how much I try to defend the team and the league, it's been a shower of shit since the World Cup and my poor blood pressure cannot take it much more.

I understand why because of financials but am I right in thinking that the Scottish clubs wait until they've qualified to go spend the 'CL money' to improve the squad? As opposed to spending the potential CL money to get them through the close playoff games into the CL league?

Sometimes you've got to take a risk, fine margins and all that.

I honestly think that's an excuse - Celtic have spent a considerable amount of money for a Scottish side this year, bringing in players like Duran and Hogh. They dropped the ball a bit when it came to signing a goalkeeper; but on the whole this isn't a team - in my opinion - that looks weaker on paper than it did the year prior. 

It's an historic collapse for sure, but I could certainly see Celtic doing well in the Europa League.

@RedTwoster the fact that we're still having the likes of Anthony Ralston in the squad, no sub left back and Liam Scales gets a game, the defence is still weak, losing Engels and Maeda as well hasn't helped matters, it's been invested okay but it's a weaker side currently than last summer, especially with Sinsalo in place of Kasper.

I have to say, I disagree - you look at the team from last night and that was a strong side.

Maeda and Engels are talented for sure, but the former seemed checked out for a good portion of last season. Schmeichel was poor last season, so while I’d have signed a new keeper as a priority, I still see Sinsalo as an upgrade; albeit a temporary one.

Ultimately, it’s one result - freak occurrences do happen even to the best of sides. If this starts happening regularly, fair enough, sound the panic stations. But as it stands, I’m looking at it as an anomaly. It’s a real shame that it happened, but I don’t read much into it.

I don't mind Celtic at all but that was a truly pathetic performance. It was like watching a Premier League side against a National League North / South side at times. 40 fucking shots.

LASK weren't one of the more difficult draws that Celtic could have got and it's not like they're completely mismatched. On paper they're quite even sides. To go from a good home performance to THAT is ridiculous. Pound for pound one of the worst collapses I've ever seen on a football pitch.

The bookies had Celtic at a 98% chance of qualification when they went 4-0 up on aggregate. No idea what the odds were set for Linz to qualify but I bet plenty of people would have lumped on.

Bodo/Glimt made light work of NEC to qualify for the champions league proper two years running. Celtic need to Single White Female that club down to a tee.

I don't care how much we paid for him, I had to watch Kolo Muani on the wing last season, if anything we've underpaid!

We usually sit behind the goal but was able to get 2 tickets behind the dugouts tonight and surprised my youngest with them and she was well happy.

Mikey Moore was brilliant, needs a really good loan this year again, Fernandes is absolutely quality on the ball and Savinho was sharp and direct when he came on, and that's all I want. Fair play to the Charlton fans, one of the loudest away ends I've seen at the stadium.

Also got to see Luca Williams-Barnett come on, who we all have really high hopes for and have been banging on about for a year or so now.

In at 1.15am, back up on Saturday as I'm an absolute mug.
