It's not aesthetically pleasing, sure, I get that; but it's a complete, poetic, fusing of real life and character. I completely buy he's a knackered old warhorse fighting not just his opponent, but time itself, to prove he's still the best and make up for all that lost time. Good post. I feel like this has been said a hundred times but, if they actually lean into that stuff, it could be really good. He's as good a guy as any to do that stuff. Instead you get Cody Rhodes going on podcasts and saying Punk is better than ever. It's absolutely their mindset and has been for years. Sell fuck all for any of them. Punk, Copeland, Undertaker, Orton, etc. Not the bags under the eyes. Not the half-pace. Not the broken necks. Not the massively reduced schedule. Not the fact this guy appears in your Atttitude Era recaps showing he was a prime athlete 28 years ago. Nothing as interesting. Just "better than ever". Quote
The Reverend Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I think most of my thoughts have been covered by other people. Tuned in from the AJ / Becky match which seemed to be ok. Probably better than expected as AJ hasn't wrestled in years. Had been out for a big meal on Saturday, so lying in a food coma on the sofa may have helped with watching the show. Balor / Punk was also an ok match, but bugger me some of it was a bit slow. Got a bit excited at the start as the music they played (Sirius by the Alan Parsons project) was Ricky Steamboat's theme in the WWF. I thought we were going to get an appearance by the Dragon....turns out something to do with the Chicago Bulls, which does make more sense. The men's Chamber match - will watch that this week as the entrance's were so bloody long I started drifting off to sleep! Danhausen. I liked it...but that's me being an old fart. Sadly this will not resonate with today's audiences. 30+ years ago it would've been fine, but only on a smaller scale. Had Danhausen been around in the likes of Smokey Mountain, when it was hard to watch in an early internet era and you would've relied on the occasional bit of footage and magazine pieces it would've been far better. A real cult hit. But the problem with today is that he will be overexposed in no time. A character like that will annoy the hell out of most people if they keep wheeling him out regularly. Quote
TAFKA Jonny Vegas Posted March 2 Posted March 2 (edited) Biggest problem with Danhausen is that he's utterly shite all round. Terrible in the ring, doesn't look like he's ever worked out in his life, doesn't look capable of beating anyone up, has a one dimensional gimmick that has never been appealing to the masses. A work mate who is a lapsed fan but watches every year from the Rumble through Wrestlemania messaged me literally saying "who the fuck is this Denhouser? He looks shite". By many accounts he's supposedly a bit of a twat in real life too. 2026's Scotty Goldman. Edited March 2 by TAFKA Jonny Vegas Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted March 2 Paid Members Posted March 2 (edited) In the interest of balance; social media clips of Dangausen’s debut have done numbers in the millions and his WWE T-shirt is supposedly a big seller already. Edited March 2 by Supremo Quote

He was a good character to show up on your local indy every few months for a bit of fun. Wouldn't want to see him every week though. 2 minutes ago, Supremo said: In the interesting of balance; supposedly his new WWE T-shirt has shot straight up the charts. It's a wrestling tee that is not super obvious it's a wrestling tee, Im not surprised it's sold well. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 The guy has been around 10+ years in multiple companies, sold tons of merch and been very popular at conventions. He's not 'utterly shite'. He's just not for everyone. Quote

During his time with AEW, he used to search his name on Twitter and argue with people/call them out for slagging him off. Incredibly thin skinned. No wonder he’s best mates with Punk. Quote
Chico Torres Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Joe Pasquale had a string of many popular stand up videos including Bubble and Squeak, Live & Squeaky and Twin Squeaks. Never underestimate the appeal of utterly shite comedy to other people. Quote
Chili Posted March 2 Posted March 2 He's thin skinned as fuck, but utterly talentless he obviously isn't. Quote

Paid Members air_raid Posted March 2 Paid Members Posted March 2 I still can’t believe they didn’t turn Liv babyface and are saving, seemingly, Vaquer vs Ripley for SaudiMania. Three months ago I thought the Women’s part of Mania was can’t-miss, now I’m not sure what to think. I assume Cargill vs Belair is only not happening because Belly is still injured? Quote

With respect David, Colt Cabana has been around for two decades, had spells in AEW and WWE, sold way more merch and been way more popular at conventions. He's utterly shite as well. Quote
