It's a wrestling tee that is not super obvious it's a wrestling tee, Im not surprised it's sold well.

It came up on my FB last night. It's a wacky bloke with facepaint with a big WWE logo underneath his head. It doesn't scream anything but wrestling to me.

I didn't notice the wwe logo, I just saw a silly t shirt.

With respect David, Colt Cabana has been around for two decades, had spells in AEW and WWE, sold way more merch and been way more popular at conventions.

He's utterly shite as well.

But clearly not to a reasonable amount of people.

And hey if he's that shite and managed to be around for that long AND continue to make money out of it then good for him really. I wish I could!

You forgot, also sells bootlegs! Saw him first hand selling shitty looking pirate copies of ROH shows.

Oh what irony. I remember him going on an absolute tirade about a guy called Pin Me/Pay Me who had about 50 pin badges for sale of DH face (from memory his pins were about £5 and nearly always BOGOF).

Not condoning it from the PMPM guy however I doubt the potential £125 of lost earnings warranted such a vehement reaction.

Particularly when he's been doing the same and almost certainly on a much higher scale.

Who would have thought someone with such a sound and reasonable mind as CM Punk would keep such shitty company.

Thats the thing though, it isn't a surprise. He's had contracts handed to him at AEW and WWE because his mate has sorted it.

Wrestling is probably the number one industry for top guys getting or keeping jobs for their shit arse mates. 😆

Not a natural thread for this, but this feud - work or otherwise - is far ahead in the stakes of 'most tedious Wrestlemania angle' this year.

I’ll take anything that injects a bit of heat into a feud these days and I’m certainly more interested in all this now.

This is the only social media I’m on so I don’t see all the constant drivel of worked posts that must be happening. It gets me going when stuff like this cuts through.

When I watch wrestling I want to believe the wrestlers are beating each other up and try to forget that they’re all hugging in gorilla.

I’m sure this is getting compared to Tiffy / Charlotte last year and while the work in that match wasn’t amazing I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen

See, I think it has the opposite effect.

When people are being goons on social talking about 'speaking to creative' and 'breaking the fourth wall', i'm immediately forced to question what is and isn't real. Not just that, if you do buy the animosity is real you are only doing so after the wrestlers involved have forced down your throat that the whole premise of wrestling is shite but 'this? this you can trust!'

I think it makes it more confusing and more difficult to suspend disbelief and just lose yourself in the show.

Yet, if wrestlers are just allowed to execute a good wrestling story none of those things matter and you can just enjoy it.

I think the most tedious thing you can feel as a wrestling fan is 'ooh, were they supposed to say that?', as by that point you're completely out of engaged fan mode, and into critic mode.

I think wrestling is probably the only form of fiction that breaks the fourth wall like this. It's weird and I hate it. It doesn't even make any sense - look, these guys don't like each other in real life! No, this is real unlike everything else you've seen on the show. Now watch them have a fake fight! Oh, and then you can see them actually be mates and hug in WWE Unreal a few months later! What's the fucking point of any of it?

You don't watch an action film and wonder if the actors playing the bad guy and the good guy get along in real life. The characters don't reference the actors personal lives.

It's the laziest stuff imaginable and a crutch for bad wrestlers and bad creative people who are unable to write an actual coherent story with a real beginning, middle and end. Why bother with a character arc when you can just have the wrestlers standing opposite each other spouting witty lines, using each others real names and referencing their real life divorces, career failures or dead parents?

To the fans the best stories will always be the ones that are 100% fiction from start to finish. This worked shoot stuff they do is just weak shit for a cheap short term pop.

I don't watch, but looking at Jade and Rhea physically, the match books itself. It's a big clash of the titans type deal, it's extremely easy to book that and not make that dull.

Instead, they've gone into some work (which I think it is, because surely someone above would say knock it off, but look at what they did last year) shoot bollocks, that's completely guff. Ohhhh, maybe they REALLY don't like each other. And what? They're gonna shoot in the ring yeah? Ruin the match? No, they won't. The match literally doesn't need this but you've got these old farts with accusations on the booking team, obsessed with working the audience in a negative way to wank themselves off on a reality show. Anytime wrestling does these 'oooo they don't really like each other' angles, notably a lot more prevalently booked for women by the way, I have so little interest in the match. It's so lazy, it's not creative and the wrestlers usually can't pull it off convincingly and usually somebody is encouraged to say something completely stupid and someone actually does get upset. Yet it adds no juice to the match itself. Dull as fuck booking.

You know why this triggers so badly?

”Even though Lita was “married to Kane” on TV, Amy Dumas came home every night to ME.”

EW. Stinky.

Exactly this. To promote a match like that you don't even have to do much. Just have them stand in front of each other and stare each other down with intense looks on their faces while the announcers bang on excitedly about what incredible physical specimens they are. Or fuck it, book an arm wrestling angle which the fans always go mental for. Have Rhea Ripley squashing people using Jade's finisher for a few weeks to get in her head. Run some vignettes showing them both training for the match and showing off their impressive physiques. It's all just basic pro wrestling stuff that is easy and always works. But no, they have to go all clever clogs and smell their own farts and do a bunch of nonsensical bullshit.

This is all I could think about as soon as Rhea vs. Jade was rumoured. That same sense of finding this VHS in Blockbusters as a kid and my head falling off at these two titans colliding.

Not once did I need to know which one was spending more time buttering up creative.

It's just a bit of genuine animosity in a feud isn't it? That's all. You've still got all the above but with an added dash of something a little extra.

If I was 40 when WM VI happened I definitely would be interested to know what was going on behind the scenes!
