And then after he loses the Chamber, they just announce he’s getting a Title shot anyway. No greater example that they’ve got buyer’s remorse from putting the belt on Drew and are now scrambling and re-writing to create a multi-man to save Night One being a wash out. Four-way of Jacob/Drew/Cody/Orton seems most likely at this point. Provided he remains cool as fuck, you assume Jacob will get the big reaction on the night. There’d be worse options than strapping him up there and then. Quote

The curse "works" more commonly on heels and other lower card acts, sometimes people just no sell it and respond to him as if he is indeed a deluded lunatic, sometimes it works on people you wouldn't expect it to. He is definitely meant to think he is much more important/scary/powerful than he actually is, but sometimes the joke is that he IS that powerful for fleeting moments. He can be whatever the people involved think will be amusing or entertaining, not much more to it than that. He is also a much more accomplished in-ring performer than people might expect, but that's incidental most of the time. The idea that he'll be "reduced" to doing comedy skits is, as @RedTwosterpointed out, a bit of an odd take as that is what he's there for. I like him and think he can be a l lot of fun if used in the right way. I also think his debut with the rubbish pyro was quite on brand, and the fart in a church reaction was also funnily enough quite fitting for the character. I'd be tempted to give him bigger and grander entrances every time if I ran the show, so it's probably good for everyone that I'm not in charge. Comedy is subjective, he's not going to be for everyone. I'm surprised at just how much some people seem to hate him, but different strokes and all that I suppose. Edited March 1 by JLM Quote

Paid Members BomberPat Posted March 1 Paid Members Posted March 1 I like Danhausen a lot, and the big entrance with him keeping the name and gimmick makes me think they properly value him, but having him debut and do nothing isn't a great start. It would have been nice to have some indication as to what he would actually be doing in WWE, someone he might feud with, at least some interaction with another wrestler, rather than just showing up and that being it. He strikes me as someone who, if he had debuted there around 1999/2000, his first feud would have been with Jerry Lawler while they figured out what to do with him. It also all made me look up Royce Keys, to find that he hasn't had a single TV match since debuting at the Rumble! I can see Danhausen getting stuck in that phantom zone. Quote

I was working ring crew for a bunch of shows and one of the wrestlers who worked the shows was a kid called JT Ripper. Nice guy. Typical mid-2000's indie look, long brown hair, nondescript attire etc. Anyway, we were travelling to a show and amusing ourselves with stupid stories when an idea suddenly hit us. What if JT Ripper got dropped on his head in a match? He gets taken to the back and everything gets very serious "We don't know if we will ever see JT Ripper again" etc etc. A few shows later we are told JT Ripper is set to return. The moment arrives. Introduction, Instead of his regular music "Jesus Christ Superstar" blares across the sound system. Out comes JT Ripper, long brown hair, beard, wearing a white robe and declaring that he is now "JC Superstar". He walks around the ruing, putting his hands on people's heads and "blessing " them. His head injury has dislodged something in his brain and he now believes that he is Jesus. It's a miracle!! A vignette would be shown a few weeks later of JC Superstar at a busy public swimming pool, declaring that he would prove the non-believers wrong by walking on water, only for him to step into the pool and sink to the bottom like a stone, re-emerging several moments later, flailing around, spitting water out and yelling "Do you not believe!? Do you not believe!?" while everybody else at the pool, kids included, completely ignore him. JC Superstar believes, with every ounce of his soul, that he is Jesus. Everybody else knows he is not and either ignores him or ridicules him. That's why it would (obviously, because it was a brilliant idea ) have worked. We thought this was hilarious, would get over huge and would would make him a big star but sadly he never did it and left wrestling shortly afterwards. Anyway - tangent. Apologies. They don't actually push him having actual magic powers or anything, and if they ever did something like that it was always on indy match level stuff. Heels would respond to his curses because they're heels doing a little comedy bit and at heart, they're all cowards. It's just leaning into a bit like for example Orange Cassidy. When he's fucking about tapping people on the shin, why don't they just punch him directly in the face. It's silly wrestling bollocks innit. Quote

Sometimes it "works" on a heel for a bit and then they'll catch themselves and think "wait it's just a little weirdo pointing at me what the hell am I doing?" It's never clear if it actually "worked" or if heels are susceptible to believing it works because they are not strong of character. It sometimes "working" on people who shouldn't be affected by it or shouldn't fall for it is just for fun, and usually that person will catch themselves afterwards as well, so maybe it didn't work and they played along, or he caught them at the right time and they temporarily bought into the madness. He doesn't have superpowers and he is not the scary supervillain he believes himself to be, but sometimes people in a moment of weakness will be caught out. Maybe it's like hypnotism where it only works on the willing, maybe there is the tiniest outside chance that his powers might sometimes be a little bit real. Again, it's a very low stakes comedy act, so I don't think the logical consistency of it is terribly important. I know the full extent of the Boogeyman's powers either. Quote

Sting, gently shin kicking Orange Cassidy, is not meant to be an idiot heel or a stupid comedy babyface so why do it? It's just the worst kind of "winking-at-the-camera meta wrestling" designed to get the most social media clicks and views, which I absolutely detest. I'm owning that I'm an old curmudgeon yelling at clouds by the way. I still watch wrestling because I probably always will but I do find I am watching all of the modern stuff less and less. Quote
