  1. I'd be really interested to hear more on this? My Nan's boyfriend used to tell me stories about WOS when I was a kid and Mick McManus was a name that always stuck out. A quick Google and I couldn't find anything related!?
  2. I largely blame them for beginning the trend of old football shirts being sold for extortionate prices. I've wanted the Celtic "black magic" away shirt from 03/04 from when I was a kid now that I'm an adult for years however it's over £100 every time I see one.
  3. For those interested, Classic Football Shirts have a massive clearance on at the moment. I got my son a Torino padded jacket, Torino training shirt, Torino track jacket, Hoffenheim goalkeeper top, Atalanta drawstring bag and Kappa Real Betis sports bag for £17.
  4. Had an interesting discussion with a friend at work today about the cost of these tickets and what if any value for money they were. My son is only 6 and last year I had taken him to a local indy show. For £25 total we both had "VIP" front row ringside seats. That also included a signed poster and a photo op in the ring with a wrestler who for as far as he was concerned was as big a star as anyone. He spotted a few of the wrestlers milling around during the interval and the main event then got to have pictures with them as well. We went to another local Indy show too where the tickets were about £15 for the two of us (albeit reduced on Groupon). He met and got a photo with Kalisto for £5 - which he was buzzing about as he had WWE figures and cards of him. Then he got a Kalisto mask, which he signed for him for £10. The cheapest tickets even if they had have been available for the two of us to go to CATC would have been about £400 total for a birds eye view. I appreciate the quality of wrestling, the magnitude of the star power and the venue/presentation is significantly higher, however to get anywhere near the same experience at CATC is $3500 EACH. Give me a local event with a battle royal of trainees, interval raffle and a merch table selling a DVD of Fast Lane 2015 and Mattel Basic Alberto Del Rio for £15 each every day of the week.
  5. My brother, my son and I met Kyren Wilson in Berlin back in February when we were all staying in the same hotel. Ended up bumping into him and making small talk a few times during our stay. A nice bloke and wished him all the best for the World's. Would love to see him win it and had a wee bet on him pre tournament which would make it even better.
  6. Thanks mate, it was so long ago I always remembered it as having that classic spot of running clothesline etc without being able to get the bigger man off his feet before Sting finally did. I think CTXRussomark may have told me what match it was over a decade ago but sadly I cannot remember for sure.
  7. Tickets for most things at the Hydro generally sell out within minutes Keith. I dont think there will be much chances of picking ones up for bargains later on. My wife recently wanted tickets for Stevie Nicks which were absolute carnage and I know lots of people who couldn't get them but luckily I managed to get them on pre sale. The cheapest tickets for her now are £250 odds each, more than double what they were originally. Seen a lot of people on twitter pissed off at the prices but they'll likely still sell out. Its absolute greed too as the cost of WWE Live show tickets the last time they were here were between 1/4 and 1/6 of the prices for CATC.
  8. Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior - Wrestlemania 6 As a kid we didn't have Sky and little to none of my mates watched it either. When I was maybe 7 years old the local video rental shop shut down not long after a Blockbuster opener across the road and they sold all their ex rental VHS for 50p each. My Mum let me get a WWF Colisseum Home Video with that match on it. I was never into comic books but that match must have been what fans of those imagine Batman vs Superman to be. It was such an unbelievable spectacle and I was hooked. Sting vs Big Van Vader - WCW unknown Still without Sky my wrestling fandom was restricted to magazines, figures and the occasional VHS picked up at car boot sales. However WCW Worldwide was on ITV Saturday afternoons and it was must watch for me every week. I have vivid memories of a Sting vs Vader match across two rings - to this day I don't know what the event was but the two rings, Sting's colourful attire and Vader with his mask and power were absolutely mesmerising. HHH vs Cactus Jack - Royal Rumble 2000 I fell away from wrestling around 10/11 and football took over. As I went into secondary school I missed the peak years of the monday night wars. I still didn't have Sky and again none of my friends were wrestling fans. Then by chance I sat infront of two lads in maths who were talking about wrestling and the Royal Rumble being shown live on Channel 4 that weekend. I stayed up and it blew my mind. It was worlds apart from how I remembered wrestling to be. The entire show was fantastic with that topping it off for me. I'm still to this day best mates with one of those two lads from maths. Many a fantastic memory of watching wrestling together, going to shows together ranging from FWA to Wrestlemania, our backyard days and he went onto flirt with a real career in wrestling having matches against the now Finn Balor and Jake Roberts amongst others. ECW Living Dangerously 1998 I can't narrow it down to one match but after RR on Channel 4 my interest was sky high again. I was back at the car boots hoovering up every bit of wrestling stuff I could find. I don't remember having ever heard of ECW and when I saw the VHS on a table with barbed wire and New Jack then the names of Al Snow, Taz and The Dudley Boyz on the match listing who I was now familar with from RR and Sunday Night Heat, I gave it a go. I watched the entire PPV absolutely glued to it and ECW immediately became my favourite promotion. Nick Mondo vs Wifebeater - CZW TOD My peaked interest in wrestling coincided with the explosion of the internets availability and popularity. I became aware of the UKFF and an entire new world of wrestling. I checked out CZW which was popular at the time and this show and match in particular blew my mind.
  9. Fair play if any of you managed to get pre sale tickets today. I joined the lobby as soon as it opened to join the pre queue, queue. There were 5000 people ahead of me as soon as I hit the actual queue. The cheapest tickets available once I got in were £610 EACH. I did then check restricted view tickets and whether the gamble of how restricted they may be was worth it...£802 each. Stayed up an extra 4 hours after finishing a night shift for that shite. The pricing tiers are pretty fucking brutal. I've listed them below for anyone interested. At least all the footballers and drug dealers will be able to take their kids. £175, £232, £289, £345, £390, £500, £610, £802, £940, £1160, £1583, £2945. Sorry for the spoiler tags. I'm shattered, hit it by mistake and couldn't get rid of it. 😆
  10. I don't know if its the general consensus or just an apparent majority on twitter this morning but either way it was a nice to see a lot of people sharing my opinion of being totally uninterested in Becky Lynch. I think a lot of people, most notably herself had forgotten that what actually got her over to the next level was an accidental bloody nose during a pre Survivor Series brawl. Not anything she had specifically done, just pure happenstance. I saw someone on twitter refer to her as Becky Hogan and I couldn't have agreed more. By far the worst of the four horsewomen across the board apart from in her own mind. The women's roster at the moment has so many fresh and exciting newer talents on it. A baffling decision backwards in my opinion.
  11. Quick Dave Busst story...after his injury and rehab he began doing coaching at schools in and around Coventry. My brother who was maybe 8 or 9 years old at the time nutmegged him during a session and Busst kicked his legs from underneath him "for his cheek".
  12. Watched and thoroughly enjoyed the Cov game and very proud of my original home town today. My year old son who is born and raised in Glasgow lost a little interest at 0-3 but got increasingly into it for the comeback. The rollercoaster of emotions from the premature ecstasy of that last minute of extra time "winner" to the agony of a penalty shootout loss was enough to leave him in tears. Spoiled wee shite has been too used to watching Celtic win practically everything domestically his entire life and isn't yet used to the true misery of football.
